Callaway SUPER!! Hybrid review

QuigleyDU

Recommended Posts

Wondering if the video reviews will still showing up tomorrow since I see on Callaway website that Nov 1 is official ship date. Gonna try the 20 degree option to start. See how that works. If all goes well may add the 17 degree. The 23 degree may start to look a little strange being that big & showing that much loft. The CC head size is not listed in the specs on Callaway site so not sure how much progressively smaller they get. . As lofts go up I like the club head to get smaller.

Same here. Ever since my trusted 3 wood broke a couple years ago, I have not been able to find one I liked.

We're the numbers you posted with the stock PO 80 gram? Bummed Callaway doesn't have a heavier weight PO at least as a custom option.

Yes, stock 80 which from what I hear @knudson81 an TG2 is the legit shaft.

Yessir, heard the same on the pod. I'll have to give this a poke with the X flex in there.

Mind is blown.... cant for the life of me think how someone that can produce those kind of numbers would have any consistency with a 80g S-flex. I know there is a lot more to it, but I would for sure think a 90 or 100 in X or TX would fit you better with those numbers. On the other hand, what kind of numbers would someone get that would fit into that, 350?! Crazy hot! How was dispersion? Which I know is related to fit, but still curious.

If I was to buy one, I would for sure get and x stiff and maybe see about something heavier. But the shaft is a good one.

I mean it is a hybrid and not a fairway wood. If a guy wants max distance and has no problem hitting a fairway wood well, I don't think this is the club for them. I'm assuming the goal is to get near fw distance in an easier to launch and straighter package.

Wow so tempting

I really want to fight something reliable off the tee when I am not feeling right. This sounds like it would be the ticket

Love my 3 wood but it’s just not “tight” enough when the wheels fall off and I have to nut my hybrid to really get me a comfortable distance on longer par 4s

I don’t play a fairway wood or “traditional” hybrid and just decided to try an experiment with a low lofted g410 set at 16*. I’ve thought about trying a bigger hybrid to replace the fairway wood slot for me. If the ping doesn’t work well for me this could be something to try.

If you saw the Hocknell interview, he claims 5 wood distances with accuracy. Just my subjective experience , I got neither. I didn't care if I didn't max distance either, it wasn't all that accurate for me. Also the shaft is fairly long for a hybrid, "getting stuck" could be an issue.

Ok, but wouldn't 15 yards short of a 4 wood fall right into the realm of a 5 wood? Now, if it was no easier to hit and not as accurate as your fw, I can understand that.

Who is this even targeted at? What does this do that the epic flash hybrids don’t do? I play a 20 degree apex, see no reason to even try this.

I think it's aimed at guys who would like to hit their hybrids nearly the same distance as their fairway with possibly more accuracy. There's also a growing segment of golfers who just don't care for hitting fairway woods. This club may also be aimed at those people as well. As far as not getting into any tour bags? I'm not someone who worries about what touring pro's put in their bag. I use what works best for me. I will definitely will give this an hard look to see how well it works for me.
