MP 25’s Scrutiny?

Hey fellas, I guess my inquiry would be this. Why are the 25’s dismissed almost unanimously here?

I’m really just trying to hear a more objective opinion of players that gamed them. I hear it’s the boron,

or that they should’ve been branded a JPX. Almost all say it comes down to feel? They offer a layer of forgiveness that some say doesn’t deserve the MP label. Mind you the 53’s and 54’s I find huge in the forgiveness area. But

Mp 25 is a much more compact design than those.

Brutally honest of me, subjectively they feel really good. Soft with a click!

I would love to hear what the deterrent was? ps I am from Hawaii, so naturally

every ball and iron tends to feel a tad softer do to our weather.

Thank you very much. Aloha~

I think the 25s got a bad rep because of the boron. Everyone says they don’t feel as good. I played them for a brief time with a MP 5 combo set. I didn’t see much difference in forgiveness between the 2. Feel wise I remember them being very similar. Also, the plastic badge on the back was a turnoff for many.

Thanks for your input.

Really good point about the plastics badge on the cavity. That was really a cosmetic flaw for sure!

I thought they were nice irons. Looked better than 54 from address. Badge wasn't terrible. It was about as nice of a piece of plastic you can put on a iron, haha.

They are definitely an improvement on the 54s. I just didn’t see any advantage forgiveness wise over the mp 5s. If your looking for a fantastic iron with a bit of help for cheaper I’d check out the mp 18 MMCs.

I think the 54 looks and feels better, although the 54 short irons looked crappy, the 25 was just a miss for me, and not blaming boron, probably have more T7 wedges than most anyone. The 900T marked the biggest improvement in the looks of the 9-P.

I have played 33 37 52 58 60 18mc and gaming 63 which i think look great.Like the Bridgestone J40 style look that was popular and Srixon style....25s may have been a cad cam design vs say a Hogan BH Grind that looks great !!

I owned MP54's for a while, then went to Demo the 25's. I did not like them at all.. the feel was off... the sound was off, just didn't feel like a real MP iron compared to what I was used to. I always attributed it to the boron but who knows. I only hit them once too, so it could have just been me, the golf balls I was using... not sure.

Top line was a bit chunky for an MP and I don't think the Boron helped their cause either. Mis hits felt worse than an AP2 mis hit, but pured shots felt fine. I agree, they should have been a JPX iron as the size was more along those lines. Not bad irons at all, just have a lot of Mizzy snobs out there that are very particular about their MPs.

Combo MP25/MP5s, see my signature. In my personal experience MP25s are not more forgiving than 5s, do not offer any distance gain due to boron or whatever and feel a bit clicky compared to 5s. Aesthetics wise I have no problem although 5s look obviously better.

I think you have answered your own question really.

I almost bought a set when I got fitted for my current irons 716 AP2s. They performed extremely well and were easily half a club longer and a touch more forgiving. The numbers and traj were just spot on - bought the feel was just very 'clicky' and felt almost like a cast iron.

They are a very handsome club though but why would you get a Mizuno if it doesnt 'feel' like a Mizuno?

I bought my first set of MP-25s in 2016 and have since tried 3 different iron sets (Srixon 765s, MP-18 SC/MB combo, 19' Callaway Apex Pro), which have been returned/sold as I keep coming back to my trusty MP-25s. Still gaming the MP-25s and actually bought a second set built to exact specs to match my current gamers.

I find the MP-25s to be very forgiving, love the aesthetics and feel in my opinion, amazing. To each their own.

I have a set with Recoil Proto 125 F4 shafts. Like many have already said, they seem a bit more clicky that my other Mizunos (MP5, MP4, MP69). I don't find them any more accurate either. Distance was pretty much spot on too. Planning to pass them on to my son sometime soon. I also thought they were a nice looking iron.

They were one of my favorite sets I've gamed. Always loved the look both at address and in the bag; I think the aesthetics still hold up. As far as the bad rap they get among "purists" should simply be attributed to them being slightly ahead of their time. Look at what the MP line has evolved (or devolved?) into with the last couple iterations. You essentially have a borderline game improvement option touting the MP moniker (mmc/fli-hi/HMB). The MP25's felt as good as the MMC's and quite frankly have more of a players look to them. I have only love for the 25's.

...all that said, I'm all about my 919T's at the moment and refuse to let myself be associated with that loathsome boron ever again.

they were the worst set of MP irons ive ever owned.

They were ugly at address, ugly in the bag (Of course I bought them anyways)

They felt like rubbish and launched a mile in the air. They were horrible

I’m pretty sure you’re referencing the MP59. With the titanium incorporated pocket. I wasn’t aware

The 25s were packing any titanium. So that would be new news to me. Thanks!
