PXG Gen 3... Jan 2020 (ST, Gen 3 T and P Photos added Page 13)

I've always played forged players CBs (regardless of if they were right for my game). The one time I tried to play GI irons, I picked up a set of Ping Gs which lasted about a week due to the chunky looks and massive offset. The Ts definitely look good at address. I just wish the world was a bit more healthy right now as I'm itching to hit them on some grass! Hitting 200+ 3/4 swings a day on my SkyTrak is starting to wear on my back.

Dang, that's awesome. I got fit for 0311P Gen 2 (hero price) before PXG put a travel ban on their mobile fitters. I was supposed to get fit for wedges and a putter too but that will be after we are allowed out again. Hope the prices drop for RH too! Nice grab Lefty

This intrigues me as well! I've seen someone on the PXG fan Facebook page bad mouthing them, and stated they were made in China. Said he worked for PXG at one time, but apparently has a bad taste for them now! Honestly, I play to gen 1 t's, don't wanna sound like a fanboy, but even if they are made in China a still love 'em!

So, I was able to speak with the mobile fitter that fitted me into Gen 2’s last year. While he is technically furloughed right now, he was able to drop off two fitting clubs for me: a 7-iron each in the Gen 3 T and P.

I took them out to the course the other day and hit 36 shots each from 170 to the middle of the green; I also hit 36 with my current New Level 902 7-iron. I’m wondering if anyone else experienced the odd results I did.

I feel as if I flushed every single shot with the P, but I sliced most shots. Those that were not sliced went way too far.

The T’s, on the other hand, were incredibly easy to draw and nothing went left. However, I didn’t feel like I flushed many shots. I’m going to be taking the clubs out to experiment again tomorrow, but very interested to see if anyone else experienced similar results.

I’ve had a similar experience. Except I would overdraw the P. I came from i500 and the P is just a little bit longer/bigger where I would slam it shut. I ordered 4-GW in gen 3 T. Got them 2 weeks ago. I’m hitting a lot towards toe. These are smaller blade length than i500. I just have to move a bit closer to the ball is all.

i experienced the same thing when I played i500 coming from i200. If history repeats it’ll take me a month before I have the Ts dialed in. Good news is there is hardly any ball speed loss on toe hits :)

They are nearly identical. The only difference is the 902’s have an ever-so-slightly longer blade length. I’ll take photos tomorrow for comparison.

I’m not yet sold on the Gen 3 T’s. They feel exceptional, but the results are nearly identical to that of my 902’s. The caveat to that is that I found the middle of the face on every shot with my 902’s, whereas I did not with the T’s. Despite the mishits with the T’s, they went about the same distance and had similar dispersion. If I can dial them in, I expect they will give me a few more yards and be slightly more workable.

Ya, I get that. But I thought the “quality” forgings come from Japan, as opposed to cheaper items coming out of China??

Here are some comparison pics of the 902 and Gen 3 T 7-iron. New Level is yellow/blue and the PXG is black. In the address photos, PXG is on the right.

As you can see, they are nearly identical in size. What you may not be able to tell from the pictures is that the 902 has a slightly wider sole and a slightly longer blade length (we are talking tenths of millimeters). The top line appears thinner on the PXG, but that is due to the easing of the edge.

These days, there are so many good things that come out of China, I'd have to imagine if you did a Pepsi challenge, you may be surprised. I would say a lot of manufacturing innovation also comes from China. If PXG is saying they're forging 5x, then the must have paid a vendor in China to build the forges and acquire the CNC machines to do all the milling. The QC is probably pretty tight and then heads are shipped to their warehouse in AX for club assembly as the orders come in. Like another mentioned, everything is made in China.

If the Chinese government has manufacturing innovations it’s because they JV’d with multi-national corporations, stole their intellectual property and opened up next door selling their version of a product that was R&D elsewhere. I’ve been in too many board rooms listening to COO’s lament why they ever got involved with the ChiCom’s.

Christmas came early today. Shoutout to my PXG rep Nick. Sent me some demos along with the various shafts I wanted to test. Been playing the original PXG irons for almost 5 years. Can't wait to get these out on the course. BTW - a new LAB putter also showed up. It's my lucky day (except for 40 degree weather and 30 mph winds).

Dang, those P's are looking pretty great. I was leaning toward T's for the thinner sole as I am shallow AoA, but do not like a compact blade length and a lot of reports out there are saying the T's are pretty small.

Without a fitting I am torn between thinner sole on the T which I like, but shorter blade length which I don't like vs. wider sole on the P which I don't like vs longer blade length which I do like. I don't care about offset or top line on these because I know they aren't going to be ridiculous. Now I am leaning P's haha. Probably not going to combo as my current set is my first combo set and I don't love it.

All that said, I am pretty set on steelfibers like you got to test, so will be curious to hear about your experience.
