Increasing LPGA popularity

If the LPGA truly wants to increase popularity, they must first start playing courses that are difficult enough, or @ least set up hard enough, to actually separate talent. Secondly, the TV coverage must be completely revamped. Ever tried to watch an event? There's, far too much time spent on information not related to the current event. The announcers never stop rambling on, Foltz & that English chick. It's just terrible. Also, obvious that coverage is directed toward women & does nothing to promote a broader viewing audience.

I would watch much more if I didn't have to hear "world number 2" and "world number 5", and "world number 37" so often...……...Why is the obsession with world rankings so much more present with LPGA announcers than it is in other broadcasts.

Lol. Why not watch with the sound turned off? Never understood why a fan would watch or not watch a sport's broadcast because of the announcers.

Good advice......I actually do turn the sound down when I watch the lpga….....Am I crazy though, or do they overdue the world rankings thing just a tad?

I do agree that they overdo the world ranking thing. I generally watch a delayed broadcast on my DVR with my thumb firmly planted on the fast forward button. 95% of the action I watch is actual shots, so the chatting is kept to a bare minimum.

Actually, on LPGA tour coverage, 85% is split between showing putts & non-event related (insert any topic here) occurred in a players' life, on or off course. 15% actual golf shots from the tournament being aired.

Topic is asking how to. Again, I say, the course set ups need to be more difficult in order to separate talent. Stay relevant to current coverage. It's TV, not radio. Put a muzzle on Fultz & that English woman after 1 or 2 sentences. Cater to a broader audience. There is extreme talent displayed on the LPGA tour. Focus on showcasing that talent. Actions, not words.

Don't know if where you get those crazy numbers. Did you watch the Asian swing? We saw a crazy amount of actual golf shots with little fluff.

Don't know why you consider putts not worthy of coverage. You're not going to see birdies if you don't show the putts, and unless they have a crystal ball they don't know ahead of time which ones will fall.

I like the idea of a co-ed event or multiple events. Have 60 top LPGA players and 60 top PGA players, playing on the same course. Have an LPGA winner and a PGA winner. I think the reason why WTA players are more well known than LPGA players, is because they are in the same events as the ATP.

Not sure what non event related stuff you mean? Examples would be interesting? Would you prefer to see Cologuard commercials like the Senior Tour, I mean who doesn't enjoy being told how to package poo?

Obviously above your comprehension if it has to be explained. The topic is "Increasing LPGA popularity." My comments are suggestions related to that topic. Your whining & bashing other tours are not.

I enjoy watching when I do watch, but last season I noticed I watched a lot less and just didn’t make the time to seek it out.

 

Tired of the Augusta National needs to host stuff. Trendy “take” - won’t solve anything and not happening.

 

Boy/girl events? Made a point of not watching those when they really had them. Kind of on the Shark Shootout level.

 

I just don’t follow enough to be invested in learning more about current players and generally nothing happening or personalities that creates enough excitement to motivate me. In fairness, I’m watching the SA Open and it’s not a page turner at this point but if I had awoken at 5 and random LPGA event was on would probably listen with my eyes closed and fall back asleep.
