I think that because literally almost every shaft is "hand made" they had to think of another way to make it exclusive.

Small batch usually offers some combination of flex/weight you can't get retail. They also "individually process" the small batch where the normal retail ones are processed in mass.

Here's a quote from THP when they did an interview with PX: "Small Batch is the next evolution of our premium products. Shafts are normal process through grinding for final CPM in large batches. With Small Batch each shaft is individually processed through grinding to ensure a tighter frequency tolerance and less shaft to shaft variation."

Handcrafted is similar to velacore (fujikura ventus) which is similar to pro (Mitsubishi Tensi). The specs will be very similar to their "normal" counterparts but they denote higher quality materials and better products.

It's similar to the "made for" (or watered down) vs "real deal" of prior generations - except now, the oem/regular versions are much higher quality than prior generations of "made for" shafts.

In the case of ventus velacore, it does also denote the use of additional velacore graphite materials that differentiate from the oem (regular) version.

Project X's new moniker will be HexTow.

My guess is that they follow the same naming scheme, the oem shaft will be the regular smoke blue/black rdx, and the real deal aftermarket version will be the Smoke rdx HexTow.

Titleist stock shaft is the black smoke rdx Hextow version and i heard that the blue smoke rdx hextow will be a stock shaft with an upcoming 2021 driver release.

Interesting...always a challenge to decipher marketing terms 🤣

So is hextow their "real deal" marker or just a materials advertisement...

This is 100% completely false. The handcrafteds didnt have different materials. They were hand rolled in san diego. They did tend to have tighter tolerances, but thats it, its nothing like velacore/non velacore. Now there have been a recent trend by PX to have a completely different profile in the TX flexes, like the “hulk” shaft. Thats the trend that seems to be taking place as the TX flexes arent going to be available through OEMs without an upcharge. That applies to the RDX with hextow as well.
