Consent is the correct word as NOBODY can actually force those woman into that life. Sure some woman have difficult lives but that doesn't eliminate choice. Yes, conditions influence but good or bad judgement does as well. The fact you don't see their lives for what they are says look at your bias. You'd be surprised how many of them are college educated, then there's a surprising percentage that are married, even have children that just dabble for extra money. Just like with golfers facing shots, judgment varies per person.

And if you do some reading you would find that Amsterdam's red light district is one of the world centres of the sex trafficking trade and that there is a concerted and growing effort to shut it down.

Both of you are ultimately wrong (or right if you want to look at it that way) because of the same reason. Your opinions are far too extreme to reflect reality.

 

Some prostitution is consensual, surely. Yet, some prostitutes are also most certainly forced into the profession. I'm not sure what the percentages might be between the two, but I'm absolutely sure that statements like "99.9999% of prostitution is non-consensual" and "NOBODY can actually force those women into that life" are incorrect.

This thread was never fine. I’m not sure why you’re insinuating that I thought it was fine. I never report posts, but I reported a couple of posts, one where someone was recommending specific porn. This thread would have been shut down days ago in year’s past. I’m not sure what the mods are up to right now.

I wouldn't go that far. There's certainly a dark side with kidnapping, forced sex slavery, etc. That's what happens when something that should be legal isn't.

That said, human trafficking in abhorrent. I do wish however, that when it comes to certain matters, the government and law enforcement agencies would spend more time and effort trying to shut down the water pipes feeding the faucets than slapping those who drink from them. In the long run it simply does not seem to be an effective way to address these things.
