I have to be care not to take to much wind out of the sail of the writer and he also was the project manager for this. We did have more nitty gritty details of the fitters in the driver piece. I love the comments. They show more color the rankings. When I ask top fitter "what is hot this year?" and he says "XXX driver" my next question is WHY? I want the reasons and some of the numbers. That thing is hot and spins a touch less. Or the head seems terribly forgiving and still carries a long way for a lot of my clients.
We will make a point to add more next Feb/March for the driver piece.

There have been some great releases this year to fit just about everyone. I still favor the MP20 line, but have the JXPs ready to start the new year...

Honestly don't see the point in anyone releasing "best irons" lists these days. Just have to choose what fits your eye and swing best as it's going to be different for everyone. All manufacturers make excellent irons. I've tried out several irons this year including JPX 919 Tours/Forged, AP2, T100/200, Apex Pro, and TM P760/790. Really not much of a difference in performance between any of them outside of the stronger lofted clubs listed obviously went farther and spun less.

Just goes to show how individual irons are, like others have mentioned. I was recently fitted and was initially being pushed to the P790s. I thought they felt terrible, and they looked really odd to me. Compact enough, but so swollen looking, especially at the hosel transition. They probably felt terrible because I couldn't find the sweet spot as they were so offputting at address. I had gone into the fitting wanting a combo set of z585 and z785. Found the srixons to be meh, so ended up trying the i210 and bingo, perfect iron for me.

That's fine - this is my opinion. Writing good or bad articles is a matter of time, I don't think testing resources, as I said, is possible.

 

I think the next time there is no clear winner in the article, it will be helpful to clarify the situation.
