Mounting vice to what??? Please help

Recommended Posts

I’m looking to mount my new vice to something that is going to be sturdy. I don’t have a workbench in my garage or basement (have one in the shed but prefer not to regrip my clubs in the shed.

Can you guys post your setups or what product I should buy to have a stable base? I don’t want to have to worry about something sliding or being wobbly while putting on new grips.

Mount it to the kitchen counter. I'm sure the wife won't mind.

Be a man and build a bench in the garage! 2 sheets of plywood and 12 2x4s a skill saw 1 hammer and 800 screws

I used to have a golf club vice mounted to a Black & Decker Workmate portable workbench. It was pretty sturdy for most uses.

No real way to escape making some sort of bench or similar to bolt this to. I don't know how handy you are with carpentry, but if you are, you could make a bench that folds down out of the way in the garage..

TWPBCTPT4FV9.jpegSo this probably could have been made cheaper, better, etc. but for someone not very handy I did a pretty good job I think. I have enough surface to put more club building equipment as well which I really like. Shout out to the guy a Lowe’s for helping me design it!

You can get one of these at Home Depot (https://www.homedepot.com/p/POWERTEC-Heavy-Duty-Universal-Tool-Stand-UT1002/206768003). They also have some folding models if that suits you better.

Buy a single, steel folding sawhorse (similar to the image above) and attach a 2x4 to the top of it. Then attach your vice to the top of that (2 "C" clamps?).

This setup allows the sawhorse to be used in other ways as well.

FYI, most people buy/build their workbench before buying the vice! That being said some great suggestions have been posted. The beauty of the situation is that once its mounted you’ll wonder how you lived without it. I’ve had a vice since I was a teenager. (Don’t forget to share your solution.)
