Would you play NSW Club or Australian Club (international visitor)?

As title states, which would be better to play? I only have one day for golf, so if there's any other worth playing let me know.

I have not played the Aus but NSW is an absolute classic. Designed by the Good Doctor, it sits on the coast with speccy views and has some awesome holes. The Aus is a modern Nicklaus creation and very good by all accounts. Either way you'll be in front.

Modern Nicklaus creation leads me to believe I’ve already played something similar stateside. Maybe I’ll go with NSW then.

NSW is a far better course than the Australian. The Australian is a very "American" style course. It is in excellent condition, but lacks the land and architecture of NSW.

NSW costs around half as much to play as well.

I'm from Sydney, its certainly a good day out at The Australian, great club/bar, course is as benno_r said, what we would call "Merican".

NSW is out on the coast, some wonderful views, stick with it, not the greatest start but some wonderful holes after that.

If I had 10 games between the two, its NSW 9-1. My avatar is looking south on the 5th hole.

Hopefully you are playing in Melbourne/Tasmania as well.

Just got back from Australia and had one round to play, and I played it at NSW. Played in a sustained 30mph wind with gusts above that, so it was a brutal day. That being said, NSW was an incredibly fun golf course to play, and I’d put it in my top 5 easily (I’ve played Pebble, Oakmont, Kapalua, Torrey, Bethpage, Pasatiempo, Kiawah...you get the point). The course eases you into the round the first 4-5 holes, then after that it’s fun shot after fun shot.

The only bad hole on the course I found to be was hole number 15. Playing uphill and dead into a gale force wind, the par four was playing probably 500+ yards. You have literally a 25 yard chute to hit your ball into, otherwise it’s lost. The guy in the pro shop said in tournaments members will take an iron off the tee and just play for bogey because the penalty of a less than perfect drive is too great.

Sad to report that I didn't get to play any course.... which is a damn shame because the entire country was empty with coronavirus concerns and no Chinese tourism. Work got the best of me on this trip :(

Tom Doak out at NSW on the weekend, addressing members, not sure what his brief will be (master plan, partial reno) but expect him to do something with 2,3 and 17,18.
As @italianstallion mentioned, I would like to see something done with the severity of the tee shot on 15 but got some abuse from mates who are members about wanting to "dumb the course down".

NSW was one of the best experience I had - btw the course, the place and the people and my playing partners.

NSW is the standout. Both clubs are reciprocals to mine and i have walked both visiting for PGA tournaments. The Australian is immaculately conditioned.
