Any new driving irons 2020

They are getting more and more popular on tour and in the public. I'm sure there will be new Ut's hitting after the PGA Show. Although, IMO, they better have some new tech. Still nothing out there better than the Tour Edge Exotics CB Iron Wood, and Srixon U85.

have you tried the Titleist u500's? I have a 3 and 4 and they are great.

I could only try it with the smoke shaft that I hated. Tough to tell.

I'm really interested in the Titleist offering. What shaft did you get? What iron shaft do you use? I'm not set on the smoke.

Agree with u500. They look incredible at address and performance is great! Have one coming next week with smoke 100gr shaft. Had my hopes up with different shafts to use but the the smoke just worked.

Wilson Staff Model Utility is 100% legit. Probably their best release in a very long time. Best all around driving iron I’ve ever hit.

I went with the Tensei White 100hy XS. Mid to low ball flight. shaft is smooth and not boardy at all.

I’m very interested in that Wilson staff. I’m not a fan of the shaft nor custom options. Hoping someone near me will carry it.

I suppose it isn’t quite new for 2020, but surprised the new 2019 UDI from TaylorMade hasn’t been mentioned yet. If you want a proper driving iron (low launch, low spin, high speed) this club is fantastic. Have one with the Tensei Pro Orange 100TX hybrid shaft and it is silly off the tee.

Haven’t tried everything mentioned above, but most of them are designed more as utility irons than driving irons. While still very long, most of them launch too high for my swing and the use I am looking for (tee weapon with some usefulness off the deck).

Moral of the story - make sure you know what the use case or gap you’re trying to fill is, and test several or get fitted!

2019 UDI here and it is a beast. If you need tech or adjustability a driving iron isn’t the right fit for you IMO. That is what a hybrid is for.

Completely disagree with that statement, quite a pretentious thing to say but whatever. I play both a hybrid and a utility and I have a 2017 P790 in my backup bag. My Cobra Black Utility completely blows the 790 out of the water, if I wanted to flight it low I can, or I can loft it up if I needed the height, it’s way more versatile than the 790. I use my hybrid if I need to get to the green in 2 on a par 5 or if I’m in between clubs and need to control a shot into a green. The P790 has more tech than most driving irons out on the market so I don’t know what you’re trying to say.

Trust me I’m not at all offended by your opinion, we’re all here for the same reasons, I’m just challenging it that’s all. Just don’t understand the whole tech comment that’s all, I mean correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t that what a driving iron is? It’s a long iron with tech... if it didn’t have any it would just be a long iron lol

I did, and surprisingly, I didn't like it. I struggled to make clean contact. Not sure if it was the static weight or swing weight or what. Just didn't like it. Grabbed my U85 and striped each swing.

great, glad u found one that works for you. I tried the U85 and couldn't make solid contact. for me the u500 work great. My try the MP-20 HMB 3 and 4 irons next season.

The new wilson staff model UT is sweet launches the ball awesome just ordered one after a demo yesterday. The 2020 p790udi is nice but couldn't tell much performance differences than my own 2017 790 udi however i was on average 4yards longer 2 yards higher peak height and had a better decent angle with the wilson staff model udi over my own 2017 790 udi and other driving irons i tested srizon driving iron is nice but can see way to much of the sole on the back for my taste. But preformed very well

I tried titleist tmb, mizuno, srixon, P790 and ended up having a pxg gen2 0311p 3i as my driving iron. Best in feel and consistency, launching easily with low spin (with po 90tx, tipped 2inches not the hy version)
