From what the story indicated, the RCT ball will be something fitters and stores purchase directly from Titleist for in store use and it is not designed to be a retail item. It will be like ranges do and order a bunch of balls. Also it is not going to be much good if you do not hit Titleist balls.

Hmm. Bummer. Sounds like this is a couple years away from going retail .  . .

According to the front page of GolfWRX it will be sold on Titleist.com starting November 3.

This makes more sense to me. There is clearly a market for these balls with radar PLMs being cheaper and hence more widely used.  Unless you are going to play the RCT you still can't practice with your gamer but significantly better than practicing with range balls.

I'm just about to sell my Mevo+ and try and hopefully scrape the money together to get a GC3.  My environment is just too noisy for the mevo - it works great outdoors.  I've got 10' of flight and 8' to the radar but there is a lot of metal behind the screen which I just can't move so it doesn't pick up the spin very well in my room.  Everything spins too low by 2k rpm and has virtually no side spin. From reading about the fusion tracking, it doesn't seem like that's going to help with that kind of problem.  Unfortunately with my house, this is the only location I have and there isn't much I can do about it.

I get that all too well. I have issues with height and distance. Love using the MEVO+ at the range but I'm really stuck when it comes to indoors or backyard practice. GC3 may be a future investment.

Yeah - I'm definitely going to put my mevo+ up for sale, sell a few things (benchmade and spyderco knives I've collected over the years), and get a GC3.   The radar is just too sensitive to the environment and it's really hard to tell before you buy it whether your space will work or not.  In my case, the answer was unfortunately no.

How is the experience with AoA? On my unit the AoA seems way off and I have measured all distances and high for the setup. Using it exclusively on the range/outdoor.

I’ve been using my Mevo+ in my backyard into a net and at the range. So far the results hitting in my backyard seem good as well. Would be interested to try those Titleist RTC balls when they’re available.

My first foray into the backyard scene was rife with panic and put a Rukket Haack Pro out of commission within 60 swings. 😮

That's what I'm using for my setup and I've had it for almost a year with no issues. It's also been up during some bad weather as well so I definitely don't baby it or anything.

One of the reasons why I went with the Rukket Haack Pro over some other options is because they sell replacement nets.

I took a total of 40 shots tracked by my Mevo+. One of the target clips snapped under 20 shots with a 7i. I hit about 15 3h afterwards into the net portion and saw substantial fraying on the cords. This combined with the fact that one of the clips for the base came broken = return for me.

So, we gonna talk Fusion Tracking.  What else????

Thanks for the heads up.

If its a decent set of updates then I'll probably try and convince myself to buy one tomorrow with the FALL offer.

Youtube golf instruction video
only shows a ball distance or direction
of about 3 inches

Aside from fusion tracking, the list of possible topics, upgrades, and/or enhancements that I could see discussed include:

1.  More club metrics (Free or paid?)

2. Use of new Titleist RCT ProV1s - Trackman said they had to change their firmware since the metal is now under the cover, not outside.  Wonder if FlightScope did or will do something similar.

3. Improved measurement of driver spin and speed

4. GSPro integration

5. ???

Improved driver spin and speed would be awesome

More club data would be awesome.

I am hoping RCT balls work, but wondering if they need to face a certain direction (like dots today)

GSPro would be cool, but not sure I will switch from TGC

I would also love to see more robust PC software added via using IOS.

I already explained exactly what would stop them, not sure how else to explain it. You can patent a novel object, you can patent a novel way to make that object, and you can patent a novel way to use that object. In this case TM/Titleist could very well be awarded patents for all 3 since this sort of tech is novel.

As for TM/Titleist having a hand shake agreement, I'm not sure how you can say that if you actually read the presser. If two big, non-competing companies co-develop and bring to market something very unique, there is no way they aren't going to have contractual protections in place.

So now that there are grumbling about Titleist sending RCT balls to FS (and its positive feedback) and its going to retail, maybe the contract states the ball is not exclusive to TM?

Not exactly. It may work with flightscope, but flightscope still may not be able to openly advertise an update stating their indoor algos have been tweaked/optimized for use with the RCT ball if there has been IP filed (or develop a special ball of their own).

Your original question was a what if question, I explained the scenarios where those what ifs could be defended.

The story of the titleist “rep” sending the balls to flightscope honestly surprised me. Either they didn’t intend to protect some potentially valuable IP (very surprising) or the rep made a big mistake (less surprising).

Its on their website, its called 'pro package'

Lots of new data parameters.

Fusion tracking will be available to all new & existing mevo+ owners

Wow, I’m amazed that they included all that stuff. I just hope it’s accurate enough, at least once the Fusion tracking is enabled.

Edit, I see the Fusion tracking is what enables all those parameters

I am trying to order my Mevo+ right now, waiting on the rep getting back to me. 10% off, the fusion stuff & option for club data in the future has made me pull the trigger.

Pulled the trigger. That list is basically a mini X3 with the new parameters. $200 off, all that data, fusion tracking, potential to use RCT balls indoor. Wow. The indoor accuracy should be improved but honestly if it can give accurate club data then I would of purchased it.  That makes practice (even with range balls) much more productive.

I will try and use it in my 19'L x 10'W x 8.5'H garage for irons only practice in the winter. Would be really nice if it works there but I won't be spending that much time there. Backyard and range is fine. FSK may be in trouble with this offering. I may have some regret not going with the camera for the accuracy but if fusion tracking closes that gap by half, with the club data and lower cost simulation potential - I don't think I will.

Happy to join the Flightscope family. This is quite the offering from them . . .  Wow.

I will see how other users' experiences are before I drop $1000 on the pro package.

I am getting a dozen RCT balls when released through my pro.  I will be testing those out.
