Ping I210 Replacements

Honestly have no idea. Never hit them. But i wouldn’t be surprised if they are exactly the same. If you’re used to seeing offset , then you may not notice ?

The offset progression in the i200 and i210 is just fine. Actually the i200's have a slightly larger progression from say 5 iron to wedge than the i210's but the fact you don't really notice it, as a 1 handicap, is right in line with Ping's research and approach to building clubs. The offset is a good thing and Ping knows it. The i200 and i210 series have been massively popular for scratch and single digit handicaps, and LPGA players, and significantly reducing the offset would almost certainly be an unwelcome change. I'm a 5 handicap and playing the G400's, which have more offset than the G410's which have wayyyyy more than the i200/i210s. As long as Ping doesn't make the next generation of i210's have significantly less offset I will be switching to the i series this summer.

Any update on a replacement? Was looking for a set of i210’s at Carl’s here in Michigan yesterday, and they’re looking like pretty low inventory online across a bunch of retailers. Just nervous I can’t find them outside of one or two configurations. Was hoping for a sale with a replacement coming, but don’t want to miss out on getting a set.

No replacement coming until next year. Likely not until the late spring or early summer, as the new G Line will be out in January.

Trying to find a deal from a Ping authorized account probably won't happen. They are very strict on maintaining any kind of discount or rebate, unless and until the line is discontinued. So if you want it new from a dealer, then you might as well pony up now. Of course, used sales are always available from other parties not tied to Ping's policy. These have been a very successful line for Ping, so they appear to be in no hurry to replace.

Kind of like the iBlades - people are now handing them down to their grand kids.

Very true on the discounting!

funny line on the IBlade. If they hold until next summer then they will be on what their 4th year. Pretty unheard of lifetime for a club line these days.

I can't imagine that the new i2XX Irons holding back to Summer 2021. And even the iBlade update. They will loose nearly a complete Year in Sales. Thats Huge !

I think they try to tell us "nothing is coming until 2021" to get rid of the stock inventory they have, or just to make more money with the actual products they have to held the costs low in this Covid Crisis.

But soon as one or two other Manufactures that could impact Ping will release their stuff this year (and it will definitely happen if the supply chain works), Ping will release their Products. I'm absolutely sure that they already holding them back and not give them to their Players to test.

I guess I’m somewhat odd but the irons I gravitate towards are Ping and Mizuno. I’ve had MP-18SC’s in the bag for 2.5 years, before that it was i200’s. I pick up P790’s almost every time I’m in a shop. I like the P790 look but don’t care for the feel.

I'm very interested in the replacement for i210 and iBlade!!!

P790 just looked 'off' at address to me while the i210 looked perfect. I like a taller heel and the i210 has that for sure. I really had trouble finding the middle of the P790 and so dispersion was all over the place. This was true with several shafts and lie angles. We started to find something with the XP105, but by that time I had pretty much ruled out the TM. i210 felt awesome and I had much tighter dispersion from the beginning and with multiple shaft changes. P790 was longer for sure, but so inconsistent that I didn't even consider it when I was narrowing down to my final choice. Edit- all that said, I've ended up with 718 AP2s

I210s, like the iBlade, are basically perfect. Having two of the smartest people in golf and PHENOMENAL players lead the design team behind them is an advantage.

I'll give my thoughts on the i210 versus p790. For me p790 has an extra gear however, my distance dispersion is much greater with p790. On all strikes p790 feels better. Never really feels bad low, high, heel, or toe. The i210 on properly compressed shots feel as good as a forged blade. Low strikes with the i210 absolutely hurt for me. I210 yardages are so consistent even for a high handicapper like me.

Been comparing irons all year and on a good strike i210 is the champ. I'll be selling my p790s.

I noticed similar things this spring when club shopping. I was very intrigued by the P790s, but couldn’t hit them well to save my life. Tried the i210s on a whim and was very impressed. Almost bought a half set. Ended up with Maltby DBMS 4,6,8, and PW. Added the matching 52 and 58 wedge. Have been playing my best golf ever and loving the new sticks.

For those who don't like the amount of offset in the Ping i210 long irons, I was the same but found a fix.

Bought the i210 and love the short and mid irons from 6-PW, the 4 and 5 were a bit different in how I looked at them and how I hit them, just felt like they were from a different set. I bought 3 long iron replacements in the Callaway X-Forged utility irons, built with the same shaft to match the i210 set. They blend very well with the i210 in clubbed size and offset for the 4,5,6 irons. They're a bit higher launching and faces are hotter so I'm getting same or better distance with less effort in a smoother swing. This blended set is now working out very well.

This was my experience. I hit them head to head last week in a fitting. I actually did like the feel of the P790 better, and it was an absolute rocket launcher with a hot face, but I was getting much better launch/spin/descent angles with the I210s, so I went with those in the Modus 3 Tour 105 stiff.

I will try them next week against each other.

I think the P790 will Launch lower with less Spin.

You guys across the pond must not be experiencing the same supply chain issues due to COVID-19 that we are stateside.

The PING factory was actually shut down for about a month, and now Arizona, where they are located, is getting hit pretty hard by the pandemic. They have been running at least 5 weeks behind since early April. It was reported somewhere (don't have the source) that only one truck per day was allowed to pick up.

Here was the thread about the delay:
