2020 Phoenix Area Course Conditions

Was harassed and chased off the closed Wildfire course while trying to give my son a lesson today. Guy shows up in a cart, says he’s got a police officer ready to arrest for trespassing, and when I respond with “I’m just trying to teach my son to golf” he says “no you’re teaching him how to trespass”. Needless to say the Boston in me came out at that point. Course is overrated to begin with and turning into a cow pasture with the extended closure. No clue what the rent a cop was protecting but I urge everyone here to give your money elsewhere when everything opens back up

To add some context, my house is along the Palmer 4th/5th hole, so it’s a 2 minute stroll beyond our fence to the tee box

I also live in the neighborhood around Wildfire. They have no choice but to chase trespassers off the course - people have been out there walking, biking, letting their dogs run around, even setting off fireworks! The greens have taken all kinds of abuse, all while they have a bare bones maintenance staff trying to keep the place in decent shape. I'm not sure why you think it's ok to use their property for any purpose.

Went up to Los Caballeros on Friday. We originally booked a couple times at Wick Ranch, but they called us on Thursday and said they actually aren't taking public member times yet. So Los Cab it was. Friday afternoon and we were pretty much the only ones out there, so they let us go off as a 6-ball at 2:30. Had a blast of a day. First 3 holes are ho hum, but once you turn the corner and hit that first par 5 it is awesome. Conditions were perfect. We'll be back.

Las Sendas yesterday, although it is not the best course from a design perspective, I like it as it is a good test of your driving and iron play. It has some very small greens relative to the hole lengths from the tips. Fairways and tee boxes were in great condition. The greens rolled pretty solid and were pretty firm. There were a few too many ball marks on some greens. Plenty of sand in all of the bunkers and they have upside down cups/no rakes out on the course. Played in 4:10 teeing off at 10:40 AM, only had to wait on the last 3 holes.

Maybe some common sense is what I expect? My kid couldn’t take a divot if he tried, and even if he did it would actually improve the condition out there right now. There were a dozen people on the hole behind my house watching the bullshit flyover the other day, there are dirt bikes that ride the paths almost nightly, and both are apparently fine. Teaching someone the game while not harming anything? Can’t have that, no sir!

Seriously? I don't like Wildfire, but this makes me want to give them my money! That's like the guy that was squatting in Disneyland getting upset because he was kicked out. Or like going to a restaurant that has closed down and having breakfast with their food and supplies then being upset when you are kicked out.

Sorry dude...you are WRONG! and complaining about it is worse!

Haha, it was literally just a few times and no big deal, it was a good pace. It was a good day to be out, weather was perfect yesterday morning. I apologize for the obscenities from our group. I lost the ability to hit a driver after the 9th hole and my buddy that was -4 after 9 was 8 shots worse on the back and let it be known, loudly.

Wigwam Blue today. I enjoy occasionally playing this shorter course with a couple of my very high handicap friends, it has some fun approach shots for me and plays fair for them. Overall good conditions, green speeds average, smooth, fairways firm with lots of roll (hit one of my longest drives ever on #10), bunker sand was good.

Great value for the $29 AZ resident/rewards rate I paid. There must be some kind of kids tournament coming up as there were quite a few of them out on both Blue and Gold practicing with their parents watching. Played as a threesome and was done in about 3 hours.
