I now have all the shafts to test out in my current driver and the new TSR 2/3 heads. I did get a chance to hit the new drivers but I was coming off of two plus weeks of not swinging a club. Initial thoughts are very good and I’m surprised how good the 2 is. I’ve always played the 3 shape even as far back as the 910 which was my first Titleist head. I then went to the 913, 915, 917, but skipped the TS line.

Very nice! When is the TSR line coming out officially to retail?

TSR hits on Friday the 23rd. I’d say that numbers are tighter and slightly more consistent on averages. When I hit the TSR3 in a 10* head, I was gaining almost 15 yards carry. I also had the AD UB 6x in it and it made a world of difference. So much so that I sold my Ventus shafts and purchased a UB right away. It was that good for me. It feels slightly more controlled compared to the DI which I’ve gamed for ten years. For me, Graphite Design shafts just work.

How does the di and ub compare? I played the di for a while. Felt the best and hit some of my longest drives but would randomly bring in the lefts for me.

For me, the UB didn’t bring the left side in as much as the Ventus shafts did unless I came over the top by getting a bit too quick in transition.  For whatever reason, the UB just created a better delivery and I was much more consistent. We’re talking dispersion, spin, launch, shape, feel. Not saying the Ventus shafts feel bad because they felt great but results were not. DI will remain in my 3 wood. It’s just that good for me.

Shafts are gone. UB is in the driver and the new Titleist woods are in the bag. The TSR2 16.5 looks so much better than the TSi2 and even 3. For some reason, these new ones are way more square looking at address and it’s a lot more pleasing to the eye.

Posted this in the TSR thread but it pertains to the bag and my switch.

 

I really like the new TSR3 driver. I honestly didn't think the TSi could get any better but I am a bit more consistent than the TSi3. I know I'm not playing for money but it is making me enjoy driving the ball again - big win. Now, if I could just hole more putts! 

 

The Tour AD UB 6x in this head is very good. I personally feel that it is a mix between the DI (launch) and IZ (stability) - might be a touch lower than the DI but it is very smooth and stable. I have been finding the middle of the face a heck of a lot more than before. I did have the Ventus TR Red and TR Blue to test but sold them immediately. They just didn't mesh well with my swing and I was trying to adjust the whole time which threw off my fitting until the UB was put into the TSR3. Instant connection and I could swing my swing without feeling like I would miss and it spin like hell or be on another golf course. My delivery is so much better and this driver is really performing. Could I have just put this shaft into the TSi3? Yes. But am I feeling more comfortable with the TSR3? Yes.

 

Again, the UB is such a game changer. It’s really cleaned up my delivery and my numbers are very good because of it.

Did you go from 15 to 16.5 in the 3 wood or have you always been 16.5?

I was in the TSi2 16.5 for a bit before going to the TSi3 15. The 4 wood in the TSi2 just looked closed to me and I didn't like that. The TSR3 16.5 does not look closed and I like it for my gapping. I hit a 3 wood fairly far so it was mainly a tee club and not coming into a par 5. This allows me to continue to hit it off the tee but have slightly more launch and less distance off the turf. It is a purpose club and I tried to gap my 15 and 18 that I've used in the past.

Appreciate the love! I might get some more photos of my gear on course later today.

 

Really loving the Phantom X 9.5. I have made more putts with it over the Newport 2, and I am finally starting to feel comfortable with it on all putts with different breaks and speeds.

What grinds did you go with on those wedges?

I went with the S grind in the 52 and X in the 58.

Nice! I like some bounce in my lob wedge too. Good-looking wedges too and I think the 52/58 combo is cool.

I’ve played 52/58 forever. I did try a 50/54/58 set but didn’t like it. I found myself think way too much about what to hit and how. It definitely didn’t work out the way I hoped. I’m just so used to playing a two wedge set up.

love this. i'm the same way. i just get pretty particular in choosing my grinds. right now the clevelands are working for me but might need to look at something with low bounce for TX summers

I’m planning on getting the Z grind come summer time in the 58 to have some extra versatility. I don’t play a ton of firm courses but two courses near me play much firmer and the grass definitely thins out a bit compared to the 9 hole links course near the water that’s always lush.

Irons came in last week. The finally got a chance to get out and give them a hit a few days ago, a session in the backyard, and then a round after six weeks of poor weather, illness, and busy weekends. 
 

LOVE the full set of 201s. I should have gone this route the first time.

I had the same debate between all TC's and a split set. 3 months into the all TC's set and I couldn't be happier. Looks like things are going well so far for you!

Irons have been fantastic. Two rounds in and they are performing so well. The turf was quite firm at the course I played today but they worked through it incredibly well. Really enjoying this set.
