Shot Scope V3

Recommended Posts

It seems to be working for me as I think if it doesn't detect a putt it is shown as being 2' in length. The only ones I se like that are those less than 1' tap-ins or short gimmies when I am playing a friendly match. Right now that is OK as the granularity on the putting stat doesn't get any tighter than 0-6' for those closer putts. On putts from the fringe and longer putts I make sure I take an "aggressive" practice stroke before practicing the stroke I am going to use for the actual putt.

Second round with the V3 yesterday, and happy to report that it's working well. I had one missed shot from each round that I had to add, and yesterday's round had a couple of extra putts noted on one hole that I forgot to perform the "pin collect" function on. I recall fixing some divots and tapping the grass with the putter on that hole. Could those have been recorded as putts? (Although I'm sure I did the same on other greens without issue).

Ah, good point. Honestly, don't recall which hand but it could likely have been the left (watch) hand, as I probably had the pitch mark tool in the right hand. I'll make a conscious effort to use the putter in the non-watch hand to tap down any repaired pitch marks and see if that corrects the issue.

Another 9 this morning (pre-work lockdown golf, ahoy!). Still adding roughly a shot a hole, but the data coming back from the dashboard is brilliant. For those who haven't ventured online, the interface and output is FAR better than that of the app. My playing average yardages are coming in pretty much exactly as I know them, which is really good to have some confirmation in my game.

Another odd one that I am finding, occasionally with my approach shots the data is registering as 'correct', yet the club in question is wrong. ie Interface isn't telling to review it. Typically approach shots and almost always 1 club up (ie I hit a 9i in, but the app is registering an 8i shot). Anyone else receiving this?

Added to my ongoing support request so will see what the team have to say. Automatic reply from them shows the massive demand they must be having: "[...] We apologise but it could be up to a WEEK DELAY until we get back to you. The team is incredibly busy at this time. [...]"

Pretty sure my V3 is going back. My issues are 1) having to wear on my right hand (i'm a righty who plays left), 2) i use a counterbalanced putter so i have to use manual mode for the putter. i forget to mark my putts and then have to go back and do it - my playing partners are like - WTF are you doing? 3) its distracting manually marking the putts.

In the end, its more distracting than the value it provides. one day the technology where get there.

I've played a ton of rounds with my V3 and still just having issues with a lot of 2 ft putts...as in I'll have 2 putts on a hole and both will show 2 ft which means it didn't really pick up either. Frustrating that I can't really trust the putting stat distances because I'm not the best at remembering every putt on every hole but overall I still find plenty of value in the device. Heck, it's still a great GPS watch and probably can't be beat for the price/value just for that purpose so I'll hold off to see if they can make some improvements to the putting. I will say I have a gravity grip on my Evnroll and I wonder if that is affecting the putting part...

I never even enabled auto-putt mode (i don't even know how you're doing it). But having been a V2 user for years, I'm just using it the same way I used to.

That being said, Support has basically tossed in the towel with me with a "Yep, it's still missing lots of shots". Nothing more they can try or do for me, but tell me to wait another 2-3 weeks for ANOTHER firmware update. They did say that they are extending the 30 day refund in the event that firmware update still doesn't resolve the issues. So....see you guys in 2-3 weeks i guess....at least it still functions as a GPS watch.

REALLY WISH I DIDN'T SELL MY V2 NOW! lol

The only shots I appear to be missing are putts ? I'm guessing they're missed because they all show up as 2 feet ? All my other shots are pretty much spot on. The putting is probably down to me as I putt lead hand low and looking at it, the sensor is 13cm from the band when I putt. Today I am going to experiment with moving the tag and I have it located 6cm away. I already cut the screw off as I have a counterweighted fat grip, so it's easy to tape it where I want to try. If it works I can barely feel it under my top thumb and if the location works I'm pretty sure I can embed it right into the grip flush if I need to. I don't seem to have the manual thing down, as I forget to press buttons and don't really want to be pressing buttons for every putt as it could be distracting.

Today was round number 6. In all, I think it has missed one shot but that was after trying to assess myself a penalty while on the course. I do see a number of 2-foot putts but they are all very short tap-ins. Sometimes I'll look ridiculous taking practically a full swing before tapping in a putt sitting two inches from the hole but I think I'm still seeing that as two feet unless I move it closer to the hole during editing. That may be a precise as the system can detect/measure right now until the L5 GPS satellite technology is fully rolled out. Longer putts are being picked up just fine.

With many reporting issues here and elsewhere with missed shots or extraneous shots being recorded I was a little apprehensive about my decision to purchase this device. With these rounds now under my belt I have been exceptionally pleased by the ease of use and accuracy of the GPS yardages and shot tracking.

Battery life is horrible, well, it's just as bad as my V2 i should say. Mind you, i did have it on L1+L5 after poor performance that's what CSR recommended. BUT, it proved devastating as the watch died on my on hole 14 of my second round. Pretty silly the watch doesn't have an emergency mode to help finish the round in progress. Nope, just dies. First round was 4 hours and 8 minutes from a full charge, at which point i turned it off completely. Then started second round which we also finished in under 4 hours, so pretty bummed it didn't survive. SO much for long battery life...but again, maybe that's because i was L1+L5?

I've already chimed in on battery life but I'll do it again. I've played 36 holes in a day with just L1 and also L1+L5 and have no issue getting through all those holes with at least 10% left. Battery life is VASTLY better for me than the V2. I could only make it about 27 holes with it.

I've also used manual and auto mode and didn't notice much difference in battery life. Lately it's been on auto mode for me.

Tried the new putter tag location today but don't know if it worked because my round disappeared after 2 attempts at upload. I'm sure its on their server again. This is the 3rd time in 7 rounds it's disappeared after the sync hangs up. Going to a different course tomorrow so will try again. As far as battery life, I haven't tried to do 36 as I just charge it after my round when I get home. Doesn't seem to take long to get back to 100% charge.

Just curious...do you wait until you have a solid network connection on your phone to sync? I haven't actually lost rounds ever but sometimes if I try to sync with slow data on my phone it just times out and doesn't work.

Ok, hopefully that will help. I have spotty data speeds around my neighborhood (live on my home course) and I try to wait until I get home on my wifi to sync.
