I did; I didn't see or know about the drop down.  I'll look for it if/when this happens again.  Thanks!  I figured I must have been missing something.

I may be making an assumption that you are using the Dashboard to edit and not the App. I've never tried to edit a round using the App on the phone.

I was reading in the Shotscope Facebook group that a lot of users are having problems with the band popping out of place. A good fix is a 26-28mm band that is available on Amazon.

As I’ve experienced this a few times I bought a 5 pack. It works pretty good and if you are having this issue, which seems to be a design flaw to me, you may want to check it out.

I have 3 that I’m willing to send to some WRX’rs if they PM me their info.

For those who have a problem with shots being missed, I've begun to notice that I have a tendency, while waiting for others to hit, of crossing my arms and blocking the GPS signal! It then takes a minute, maybe less, to synch up again. I don't know if hitting a shot while the GPS is synching would cause the shot to be missed or not. Just a thought.

it is always the object between V3 and ground creating issue.  LOL

My V3 actually seems to be getting worse with tracked shots. Not sure if it's because I'm wearing a jacket more lately or what, but it missed 5 shots in my most recent round and missed putts in addition to that (2 ft putts equal missed putts for me). I'm getting increasingly frustrated with it and don't really trust the GPS functionality at this point. There have been a number of times where the pin will be in the back and I'll shoot it with my rangefinder and that number will be more than the V3 reports as the back of the green. I may just put the thing away for a while and hope it starts working better at some point in the future.

My only disappointment/gripe with the V3 has been the inaccuracy of the pin locations. I have had to edit the location on most holes at my home course post-round. I've attributed it to inherent GPS inaccuracy. That was until I played different courses on Monday and Tuesday. When reviewing the rounds the pin locations were almost exactly where I had remembered them. That being the case I requested a re-map of my home course which they quickly did.

I had a little issue getting the watch to update but it eventually did. After playing today the pin locations were basically where I remembered them being on the course. I am using the manual putting mode and really the only editing I had to do was mark provisional shots on par 5's and move a couple of putts from the fringe to on the green or vice versa as they were that close to the edge. As usual for me, no extra shots, no shots missed.

Yesterday I had two missed shots. Its only the second time that has happened and as I look back I didn't take a practice swing on those two so that likely was the problem. Since putting the retaining band on the watchband I really don't have any complaints with the unit. All i wanted was basic stats which the software does a good enough job of and a GPS watch which it also does a good job at. I hope it doesn't get more complicated than it is.

Replacing the Shot Scope V3 watch band with an aftermarket band will impair the functionality of the watch. The attached photo of an exploded parts diagram of a Shot Scope V3 watch band shows an RFID antenna is built into the strap.  Removing and replacing the strap would certainly impact the watch's ability to correctly recognize the RFID tags mounted on the golf clubs.

I don't have a Shot Scope V3, but I'm here doing my research in shopping for a shot tracking system.  If I owned a SSV3, I definitely wouldn't be changing the strap unless it was an OEM replacement strap.

Maybe those with the V2 can relate their experience, but I'm curious about battery life. I think these type of batteries are spec'd for a certain number of recharges. I wonder if it is better to play a couple of rounds with it before recharging instead of recharging after each round. I believe the estimate is 2-3 years or 300-500 recharge cycles. Given the number of rounds I play every year (~180 on average) I'm wondering if there is a way to replace the battery were it to "die" on me.

I know about the watch band itself and you’re right - it’s an essential part of the watch. The problem is the funky clasp keeps popping out and that is why I bought a small 28mm Black band to secure the actual watch band so it doesn’t become unclamped. It works pretty well. See the small black band in then photo.

Thanks for clarifying.  Your first statement said you used a 26mm-28mm band from Amazon.  They're actually referred to as "strap loops" in most of the Amazon ads for the product you're describing.  Definitely a good solution for the loose strap problem.

I've seen nothing mentioning the V3's total battery longevity, but the page 24 of the user manual says this:

Quote

BATTERY The device has an internal Lithium Polymer rechargeable battery The battery should only be replaced by authorized Shot Scope Technologies Ltd approved personal. A customer should never attempt to replace the battery.

So apparently the battey is replaceable, but I would guess the cost of the shipping cost to/from Scotland and the subsequent repair cost would be very expensive and probably not worth it.  It's a lithium ion battery, so hopefully it would last at least 5 or 6 years.  My Garmin S20 is 5 years old and still works fine, although I'm only a once per week player.  My Apple watch is 4 years old and shows no apparent battery wear, so perhaps the technology is at a point where these lithium ion batteries have become fairly reliable.  Keep your fingers crossed.

What a piece of junk.

Bought a V3 at the end of September online from Golf Galaxy.  I never had a single round where it picked up every shot; not one.  And usually, I not only had missing shots that had to be added, but added shots with clubs that never left the bag on that hole that had to be subtracted as well.  Intense editing after every round, resulting is pretty questionable data.

Then Tuesday, 12/1, there was the massive firmware glitch; my watch didn't know what time it was (thought is was 7:00 am every time I turned it off and on trying to get it correct), didn't know what day it was (thought is was 11/27), and wouldn't even keep accurate elapsed time; apparently, we walked 18 holes in an hour and 1:45, which is a new land speed record!

Ok, fine, but then today, as I'm walking from the 11th green to the 12th tee, my band is loose, and when I look down, the damn sensor is gone.  Not loose, not hanging; just gone!  So no tracking, and the band is hanging loose to that it isn't even easily usable just as a GPS watch.

TWENTY SIX rounds and three months, for $235.  To make it worse, Shot Scope says you have to return the watch to the vendor you bought it from, and Golf Galaxy won't take an online purchase back in the store.  I have the original box, but of course didn't save the receipt or packing slip, which was REALLY stupid on my part.

So I have a VERY expensive, very non-functional watch that I didn't find satisfactory, at least compared to Arrcos, in the first place.  The only bright spot is that I can now tell my wife what I want for Xmas, which is a new Garmin.

Do I seem ticked off?

Usually you can use your confirmation email as a proof of purchase for online orders, assuming you're like me and don't delete old emails regularly. I've never been asked for a packing slip if I had a copy of the email.

Sucks to hear about those issues. Even if you're able to return it, your best option may be trying something different that is better suited to your needs.

Golf Galaxy really treated me well!  Full refund for the V3, even without a receipt or a packing slip for the online purchase.  No hassle at all.

I bought a Garmin S60, which was $100 off anyway, so I came out very well.  I hope this Garmin is as good as my first one.

ShotScope announced on their Facebook page that they "have a software release later this month which will include our Phase 1 Strokes Gained analytics. Our aim is to then make updates and add new features through-out 2021."

About time. I was ready to sell the thing, since Strokes Gained is reason why I bought it!

Strokes Gained is now available on the app (I don't see it on the web dashboard). Very limited right now as it only gives Strokes Gained compared to a "Tour Player". It is under the Performance Tab on the iOS version.

Got the note today also. Haven't dug into it yet, but kinda excited.

I just bought a V3 today. As long as I can get some fairly accurate club averages and the GPS works good I'll be happy.

You'll be happy. That is all I ask for in this thing and it does a great job. I'm really not interested in all the other functions some guys are asking for. I want to know yardages, where my misses are so I can work on that part of the game, and a solid GPS watch.

I'm like you in that I don't want or need it to be anything more than what it is, a collector of shot data for data analysis to help me identify my strengths and weaknesses. I don't even really care about using the GPS distances on the course while playing due to the current inaccuracies of GPS technology. I rarely refer to it during the round, depending more on my laser rangefinder. Maybe when L5 is fully deployed and accuracy can get to be as precise as a couple of feet, but even then GPS accuracy is always quoted as being at 95% of the time.
