I'm making reference to Rick's SIM video where he said there was nothing to be gained from switching to SIM. Free agents like Tommy and Brooks wouldn't switch just to switch, so there's obviously something there. Many of us who've hit SIM already have seen enough to make a change.

Yep. They did what I hoped the hype was about. Got ballspeeds back to where I was with m4 and maintained forgiveness...at least on the launch monitor. Ordered a SIM today. Hopefully the on-course results at least match the simulator results.

I went from a 9* M5 set to 9.5. to a 10.5 because I wanted to open up the square face and knew I would de-loft it. Still experimenting but I have had good results so far (real results on course), I have real Ventus Blue shaft with two different sleeves 1* and a 2*. So I haven't decided the exact loft that is best, as I have a lot of flexibility. But I will say I have hit a couple of bombs on course Friday that were both very high trajectory shots in soft conditions. I want to see what settings work best for various conditions. I am really happy with this club and the 3wds. I will be taking all three clubs and several shafts to Orlando next week for the Show and three days of playing

Does anyone else think TM and Cobra are very similar now? Titeleist Ping and Mizzuno remind me of one another. Callaway seems unique because of Jailbreak.

So I hit the SIM and SIM MAX yesterday and the Ventus blue was the shaft for me. How different would the made for Ventus be than the one with Veracore? If the Made For worked for me in the session is it safe to just order the Veracore version?

I was told by my guy at Fujikura (high up not a rep) that the stock Ventus is a very good shaft for the Max Heads. If that shaft gave you good results why change? You can always try one later. Burt I have been using the original Blue Ventus for about a year and I love them. I have not tried the "made for"

Probably going to get flamed for this one but hit the Sim and Max. My impression is Taylormade has basically made a Ping driver that looks like a TM. Weight is all low and back. Very stable with great dispersion. The Sim is lower spin than the Ping + if you need it. Max was higher spin than my +. Actually feel the Ping is more adjustable for sure as the weight track in the Sim did very little for me at all. Ping felt more stable overall but the Sim is miles better in this area than older TM drivers. Ball speeds similar and none gave me consistently higher ball speeds over the other. I am a big TM driver fan and will game one of these when the new wears off and snag a great deal. Played Ping since the G400 for the stability and accuracy. The Sim will get me to look at TM again but going to be hard to give up my Ping.

So I was able to compare my M3 this weekend to the SIM. My M3 setup is a 9.5* head set to standard with 3 weights total (I have an extra 8g weight installed). The farthest weight back is about in the middle of the center track, then one in between the one set to the very front. My shaft is a Tour Spec Speeder 757 Evolution with the club length playing at 45"

 

I tried a 10.5* SIM head, and installed my Speeder into it so I could get a good comparison. The head definitely felt lighter, which was expected, but I expected. I did move the weight slightly more towards the toe to take a little draw out of it because I noticed the ball going more left than I would like.

 

My warm-up was very brief, and my swing was off, but here were the averages with on a CG2 using a TP5 golf ball. The TP5 is actually the ball I normally use.

M3: Ball Speed 146.2 (147.8 highest), Launch 11.6*, Total Spin 2813 (lowest 1900) , Height 28 (32 highest), Descent Angle 36*, Carry 237 yards (243 longest), Total Distance 261 yards (275 longest)

SIM: Ball Speed 145.1 (146.7 highest), Launch 11.3*, Total Spin 2837 (lowest 2550), Height 28 (31 highest), Descent Angle 36*, Carry 236 yards (243 longest), Total Distance 258 yards (266 longest)

 

The spin averages were a little higher than I normally get out of my M3. I've seen the averages around 2500 on a day where I was swinging better.

I'll probably compare them again to see if I get anything better with the SIM Max, and then tweak the SIM a little more when I have more time. I honestly really liked the way the SIM set up and felt. I could probably get better numbers on a day where I more consistent with my swing. I'll post back if I'm able to do so.

I tried the 9 degree head, and I launched way too low. The 10.5 or more is the way to go.

Lol - remember, these guys optimize launch, speed and spin. So the higher they can launch it with less spin the better at their ball speeds.

I took lead tape to my demo/fitting to make sure I got the sim head weight up where I play my drivers.
