Not exactly what you asked. But I played m6 for 6 months before going 410lst. No doubt the Sim max is lower spinning , and I’m playing a spinnier shaft ( ventus red) this time vs the KK XT i had in the m6 . And sound is better too

I mean the sharpie looks horrible, but I totally understand why he did that. I cannot stand the paint dripping onto the faces of the last 2 gens of TM Drivers. I have no clue what they are trying to accomplish by make the faces appear much shallower than they could be/are. Comparing a SLDR/R15 face to the M5/SIM faces is night & Day. I'd take the SLDR/R15 look every time.

Do you (or anyone else) know how they do this? Do they have different weight heads sorted? Or do they use different weights? Hot melt?

I like a head weight of about 202-204g, so I’m thinking if I order through them to do a custom version with a much shorter shaft since I’ll use my own shafts anyway. It’d save me from using lead tape or sending it out for hot melt. Just need to figure approx what shaft length would translate to that head weight since they’ll build to D2 it sounds like.

Pretty much this and the other options in fringe cases. Unless you have a super wild combination of length, shaft weight, shaft profile, etc then they can most likely get it back to “standard” swing weight or get relatively close to your desired SW, again, outside of something crazy, by using the adjustable weights. I could see them using some hot melt in cases where the head may not have one or if they don’t want to interfere too much with the sliding weight system.

I'm eagerly awaiting the launch of weights to market, but wouldn't be opposed to hotmelting if I could find someone to do it at reasonable cost. Any of you guys know if Club Champion does it? I've got a location near me.

If they build to a specific SW, that’d be easiest, but from the previous posts that doesn’t seem to be the case - they just get everything back to “standard” (D2), so I’ve gotta do some math.

Since I know my shaft length and weight, I’m just after a specific head weight. 202-204g ideal, over 206 I start to notice so I have some wiggle room and it doesn’t need to be exact, but either way looking for at least 6g heavier than stock which I’ve seen at 196g (my current one included).

So I’ll need to reverse engineer it so if I do a custom order I can see what length shaft that roughly translates to if they’re building to D2.

Anyway, if I pull the trigger and go this route, I’ll post the results here.

My SIM came in yesterday. 10.5 ordered with Rogue Silver 60 @ .25" short (45.5) and stock grip. I ordered it like this because my Evo II is cut for a 45" total length, and I wanted the swing weight around D2, max D3

With the Rogue at slightly shorter than stock it measured D5 (1 point higher than stock). They missed the mark. Although it's D3 with my Evo II, so that's fine.

Point being - don't get too tricky with your ordered specs because you really don't know what you're going to get.

i wouldn’t expect the world but they will probably get reasonably close. Each year I just accept that I’ll probably need to spend a few dollars in weights from eBay to tweak my driver as I don’t typically custom order. Weights from eBay are quite cheap and some sellers seem to have higher quality/quality control than others. Since I build nearly all of my own equipment it’s not too big a deal but for people who aren’t interested in that which are the vast majority, you can pick up a reliable swing weight scale for cheap that will pay for itself after a season or two.

edit: you can use the calculators online with what your specs are but they can only do so well with the information given. A counterbalance 65g shaft is going to swing weight differently than a tip-heavy 65g shaft, but the calculator won’t reflect that, so it really does take having the components in front of you to get it how you want it. As someone said above, unless you’re ordering the exact shaft, length, grip etc don’t get too tricky or cute with your order because you just don’t know what you’re going to get.

Testing SIM MAX 9* with TourAD XC6X and 7X on course tomorrow and GP6X the following day

had a quick range session today, XC combo seems to be higher launching due to the character of the shaft.

Just got off the phone with TM customer service. They assured me that they are trying to get as close to standard SW as possible for the SIM drivers. He confirmed they hadn't done it prior to this.

My driver was ordered yesterday and was already being built. Ordered with Ventus Velocore 0.5 inch soft and tried to change it to 1.0 inch soft (untipped with TM correct?). It was too late.

Hope it doesn't make too much of a difference.

Right, which is why I stuck with the stock grip on my order. It's very close to the MCC that I play (basically 47g each). It's also partially why I chose the Rogue Silver 60. That shaft is similar in weight and slightly counter-balanced like my Evo II.

Unless I get confirmation from them that they don’t use tip weights, I’ll probably abandon this idea. Since I’m not going to use whatever stock shaft I order, it’ll be useless if they add tip weights to it.

I’ll talk to their CS and see if I can get a better read on it. Was thinking it may be a feasible option since I don’t need bang-on specs. Basically if I got a head weight above 202g, I’d be content.

Potentially too many unknowns in play though so not wed to this idea. I’ll keep everyone posted.
