I've been reading this thread continually for the past few weeks awaiting my fitting, which I finally had this morning. I've always been a high launch, high spin type of player until I got the Hulk shaft, which has been a game changer for me. I figured I would just be fit into the SIM 8* with my Hulk shaft that I've been using in my M5 9*. This combo brought my launch down a touch, but was producing spin numbers that were way too low and basically unplayable. So he put me into a Max 9* next and the spin went up into a range that was playable, but he felt like I was leaving some distance out there. Luckily I had brought my D+ 70TX that I recently got and this turned out to be the winner. My swing speed went from 114 with the M5 to 116-117 with the Max, and then ball speeds went up from 164 to 170-171 with the Max. Never in a million years did I think I would be fit into the Max with my swing tendencies, but I guess that explains why everyone needs to go get fit.

Just out of curiosity I threw my sim head on the scale and it is 196 grams. It was built at the kingdom and he was looking to get it to d3 and it just happened to end up there after he built it in my specs with no extra work needed but that’s just because of my setup.

Anyone applied lead tape to theirs? I want to experiment getting weight up to 204-205 for Pro orange before going the hot melt route. Is the tape difficult to remove with heat?

Dang, that sucks to hear. Did you have an oil free surface that was clean when applied? Temperature could effect the bond as well. Just ordered some so I guess it's my turn to learn that lesson!

Lead tape on my sim. No problems getting it to stick. Leaves glue residue when I take it off. But that cleans up with nail polish remover

Yeah as long as you apply the tape to a clean, dry head at around room temp and leave it to fully adhere, you'll be fine. Might leave a little residue when you remove but that comes off pretty easy.

Just an FYI. I was told by TM the sliding weight is the exact same as the M5 so you can use the same weights if you do not want to lead tape.

Can confirm this. I put a 4g M5 weight in my front track and it fit like Ace Ventura parking a jalopy.

Your experience with trying a lower lofted head from what you normally use is the same thing that I noticed. I use a 9.5* M3 with a Tour Spec Speeder 757, and the launch and spin I got from the 9* SIM head was way too low for me. I got better numbers from the 10.5* SIM and the 9* SIM MAX, and I could actually control the club.

I was thinking of ordering a Sim driver/3 wood soon. But at this point I think I will wait until they either can build clubs to spec or aftermarket weights are available.

I had some indoor Trackman time tonight and put a lot of testing into both the Max and the SIM. The 12* Max was the clear winner for me. I already knew that I liked how it setup more but the numbers clearly bore it out. I struggled a lot to keep the 10.5* SIM in the air. Even across a few different shafts and trying different setups, I had a bunch of great shots that ended up in the 16-1800 rpm range that seemed to not want to stay airborne. But the 12* Max, cranked down 2 notches with the Smoke Green X - for whatever reason that combo was really moving it out there. So its indoor and its Trackman but I cant wait to get it out on a course thats not either 1 - frozen or 2 - soaking wet.

Right around 2300-2400 rpms seems to be the sweet spot for me with this club.

aftermarket weights are available, the M5 weights are the same but different color. Plus I ordered my SIM at 45.25", which is -.50" and it came in at D5 SW. The shaft is Fujikura Pro Tour Spec 7x with a midsize grip.

Does any know how to remove the back weight, and does it require a torque wrench but with a smaller size to have it click in when changing them?

Also, anyone know where to find additionally weights for the back?

You will need a hair dryer or heat gun to warm it up, the screw has blue Loctite on it. I used a smaller Torx bit and screwdriver, it seemed locked in pretty good with hand tightening. The weight shape locks it in and you can add a little Loctite back if it worries you.

My max head is 194g, USA. I'm pretty sure this is correct. Some builders add tungsten powder to the shaft/adapter epoxy to get SW up. Not sure how TM does it. I would guess hot-melt or heavier back weight in the max, but I have no clue. My SW was D6 at 45.25, but I ordered it from a fitter, not TM.

the old Cobra White torque wrench will fit the back weight crew.

Does anyone else see that the SIM is fade biased? I can't turn it over to save my life in the neutral setting. I usually hit a straight-ish flight with a little fade and I'm hitting 30 yard slices with it. I usually only have to move the weights when I change the loft, but with this I may need to make it upright and move the weight to draw setting just to get a straight flight.

Not in neutral setting but you move the weight toe side at all and it is...

Do you have path and face to path numbers? A slice that big suggests you're leaving the face open big time.

I don't have the numbers, but yes I couldn't get the face to close properly. I feel it laying out open at impact like the toe is lagging behind. I get ball flight I expect with my G400LST so it's either the head or the head/shaft combination that's preventing me from getting the face square.

Check swingweight to make sure that is right. You can move the weight toward the heel to help reduce the sidespin you're imparting on the ball from leaving the face open. You'll just have to move the weight again once you figure out and correct why the face is open.
