Based on TM's specs for this shaft, the Blue should be the lead horse as the tip is more user friendly.. The Black which I believe is an upcharge would be tougher to elevate.

I don't recall if they did but the newton video did. He's usually around 114-115. I've seen him hit 117 a few times in other videos. He popped off several at 118 with both sim and sim max. He commented "that's fast for me". His smash was low so a shaft change for him and he could probably get carry up to 300 with sim and sim max.

What does it mean when a head is more stable or not?

I think I'll schedule a fitting with Club Champion before the end of the month (hopefully they have it by then?) to take advantage of the 50% off. I'm a slower swinger (90ish depending on how much I'm working on it). Want to see if these changes make a difference at that speed.

I wonder if the fact that he uses the retail standard setup with the length being 45.75" has something to do with more swing speed he was seeing.

But yes, the M5 standard was also 45.75"...so

Need to be careful testing the SIM vs the M5 since it is lower spin vs M5 for same loft. It really is more about STA-BIL-ITY now not distance/spin as the M5 can be adjusted down to duplicate lower spin of the SIM.

Wait, did you just say I swing like a girl? ????

I think now , I realize gains would only come from strengthening of body/core and stretching.....my launch isn't the highest and I'm also low spin....maybe that's why the M3 is working well in its highest launch position....9.5 closed down ; weights in the back....still low enough to run out but enough spin to stay in the air....M5 was even lower spin....I'll hit mavrik, SIM and the like but not anticipating a change

It is. It always seems the flip back and forth. The M2 was the hot driver that year on tour. Then I think it was the M4, then it was pretty split last year. They probably like the high MOI, and with the access to hot melt, they can get the adjustment they want that way and optimize distance and forgiveness.

I Think Sir Quig is correct. This is probably why Rickie is playing the Xtreme head (for now). Probably easier to reduce spin via hotmelt than it is to add "forgiveness" or stability via hotmelt. I'm somewhat interested in a 10.5* SIM but I want to see what the numbers look like with Maverik SZ. My biggest gripe with my sz is it launches and spins pretty low and I have a 9* head, which forces me to turn it up to 11* Not a fan of having to manually open the face to sit it square and so on.

That's not accurate. This is the Smoke Green, just not in the purple and green PVD.

Why did I have to look at this page, now I'm ready to purchase one of these magnificent looking SIM driver. I'm going with the trade in program as I can't wait till they become available for Pre-Orders this week. I've had my M3 for 2 years and have been very pleased as TaylorMade know how to made a great driver. Plus I'm loving my P790 irons as they are not leaving for another couple of years at least.

Last year TaylorMade offered 150% trade in bonus through their website if you purchased any new M5/M6 product. Not sure if it's being offered or not this year but wouldn't be surprised.

You may not be 100% wrong. The hulk does come in both the flat black and the PVD, but is also the "Small Batch" variety and comes in TX. I'm guessing this TM offering will not be small batch and will not have a TX option. They are listed at the same weight and torque though...(for the 60G standard 6.5). Given the ventus in the sim max is clearly watered down a bit, would not surprise me of the smoke green in the sim is as well.

More stable means that on off center contact, the head twists/reacts less - therefore stays more stable all the way through impact, which helps keep the ball flight in line with swing path (less curve) This also means that the ball will retain more speed with off center contact when compared to a less stable driver head
