Weight in the toe? This actually boosts MOI some too so if you want it less draw bias it will also be a tad more forgiving. You can also crank the loft down and open the face if you want.

unless, that is, you prefer it draw biased

Yes. Toe weight increases MOI and heel weighting it decreases it...

This is why, to the surprise of many, the “draw” versions of the drivers are actually less forgiving than the standard ones in almost every line.

From physics standpoint it makes sense tho. MOI increases by placing weight further back, lower, and further from the center. As the hosel (especially in adjustable shaft drivers) is the heavier spot, and the twist axis is around the shaft, putting weight away from the shaft increases MOI. Is MOI the only measure of forgiveness, no... but it is significant.

So when you have discretionary weight (ie movable weights...) putting them back or toward the toe will make for the most forgiving setup.

Turns out the Max plays a lot nicer with the lighter head. After part of one round, I yanked both strips of lead tape off since it just felt like swinging a brick. Absolutely loving it now with the head at about 196g and a D1. Probably why I didn't get along with the G410 since the head was so heavy - always hitting slight fades which I hate. Almost hard not to hit the Max straight and relatively long, however. At least the tape looked good for a while! Liking the driver so much that the Ti 3-wood is joining it shortly. Definitely something to the Twist Face!

I'm not a TM fanboy but really liking my Sim Max. There does appear to be something extra special with the twist face, maybe placebo but heal strikes go straight and long, toe strikes go straight and long, it's really surprising. Could be a mixture of things, but am driving the ball much longer this year, controlling spin much better too.

FWIW playing my max combo at D1.5 (196 gram total head weight) on the ole Accra TZ6 M4 @ 44.75” playing length and agree with you 100%. I always played my Mizzy drivers at around 200 grams at D4 ISH with nice results but that weight in the Max head is just too heavy it seems for me as well.

Really loving mine as well Hammer. Glad you found the right weight for your feels. Something to be said about having the big stick proper in the bag!

The Twist Face is definitely nice. Played a great round yesterday with a sore back (still broke 80:)) and hit a few of my tee shots with the Max towards the heel. They had some curve but were all in the fairway. Even being in some pain and swinging easy, I was happy to get the ball out there 270ish. Last week when I wasn't sore, it was a cinch to blast them straight and longer!Yeah, something about this head - it really didn't like extra weight. The demo I tried for a few days was 100% stock, but just an inch too long (that head was 193g @D4). Adding the new weight from Billy Bob's with just a few extra grams was really perfect. Definitely shows that one particular SW at a given length is not the same when you shorten the club. My Ti 3-wood arrived today as well, and can't wait to get that out. Still have all Mizuno irons and hybrids though, so that is good:)

I've had two Sim Max heads and got both of them to around 201g, one with a 21-22g back weight and the other with lead tape on sole, have had zero issue with either.

100% it’s so subjective, never can a blanket swing weight from a chart impose the “best” feels

I’m officially converted to SIM Max. Went on a trip this past weekend and the highlight was hitting 70% fairways on one of the hardest courses in the country. Having played at the same course with M5 and 2017 M1, this driver is even longer and more consistent than those two.

I missed one drive “left” the entire weekend and it was a pull on a dogleg right that went through the fairway. Everything else was either dead straight or a small fade. Playing partners and caddies even commented on how good the driver sounded.

I would definitely recommend the Max for people in the market, especially at lower lofts where you can take advantage of all the benefits.

Just picked up a SIM and thought that my Tensei Pro White would be money in it but it's not spinning enough! I tried a spare Tensei Pro Orange in it and that one didn't feel right and seemed to spin too much. I finally put the stock Diamana Limited in it and it came to life. The shaft setting was as pictured. It's such a great driver.

So I broke my M5 and Taylor Made customer service came through big time to replace it with a Sim driver under warrantee. During the 2 weeks it took to get a new head I bought a Sim Max thinking it might be better for me and I played 4 rounds with it. The Sim Max was very straight but much higher flight and tended to have a fade bias in my experience. The higher ball flight made it 3 wood straight but shorter than my M5 for sure. Once the Sim arrived I found it straighter than the M5 but a little longer and a real joy to play.

Some of this may have to do with the shafts since I put my Tensei Blue from my M5 into the Sim head.

I never got along with the M5 when I was testing it so I went M6 and couldn’t be happier. If you switched to the Sim lineup, wha did you go with for the Sim? Sim Max or Sim? Notice a difference when you switched??

Went through a TM fitting day at my club and the SIM Max just felt like cheating.  I was piping it down the middle every time with the 10.5* with UST Proforce V2 HL5 stiff.  It was like I was hitting it down an alley.  It was a bit longer than my TS3, probably because it was fit better, but the big part was just that it felt like I didn't have to work so hard to drill one down the middle.  It felt like I could get the results easier.

So I have it on order.  We'll see if it translates from the fitting to the course.

They only make the 8* SIM Max for the Tour, I have the 8* Regular SIM but was curious if anyone has been able to compare it to the Tour Issue SIM Max head.  I may do it myself soon...  Thanks

I think I've finally got my SIM Max 8º dialed in.  Upright setting playing at 8.75º to square the face.  Only time it doesn't work is when I put a horrible swing on it.

I bought a SIM max 8* tour head (actual loft 7.5) with rogue silver 125msi.

Absolutely loving not ballooning the ball anymore. Was playing g400max 9*, high and spun way too much for me.  The sim max is almost as forgiving as the g400max. Not even the same world with length mostly due to the loft. Really the best driver I've ever played, mostly cause I was able to get the low loft I needed that no one ever sells.

Settings

Interesting

so from the M5 to SIM heads , my best setting / most Consistent for play has been the Left of standard or 1.5* degree or roughly +.75* loft

previous to twist face , prime setting has been about 2-3* open and flattish setting

m2 , m4 newer , open settings

on sim , I can hit some absolute bombs open face 3*,  + 3 AOA but that’s driving range and simulator golf what grooved and great there doesnt always translate to where it counts

However with the sim fairways , 4* open is the money setting with me , straight or slight fade with that set up

they are vastly different settings for each club granted vastly different ways of hitting the ball with each

tee vs ground

+ AOA of +2/3 vs slighly negative with the 3w

I’ve always been hesitant to use that setting bc to my eye it doesn’t appeal to me at address , nor can argue with the consistency
