New Mizuno M-Craft putters

Not even sure how a shop with any kind of experience would even do that. Unless there is something different about those Mizuno putters I'm not aware of

My advice is to learn to reshaft (at least steel shafts) and regrip your clubs yourself. It is very easy (not very easy to master, but fairly easy) and like the old saying goes, if you want something done right...

Out of curiosity I wen to the Mizuno website to check out the putter. I have no idea if MLL bought the right shaft but it appears to be installed the way Mizuno installs them. Maybe the KBS CT shaft is intended to be installed as a noraml offset double bend shaft as Brew4eagle's pic shows. Here are a couple of pics from the Mizuno website.

If there is one that's naked or site dot in the 009/BB0/Anser style I'd like to roll one to see and feel this putter.

My M Craft 1 has been surprisingly good... with that said, it hasn't beat out my Lajosi... anyone looking for a 34" black finish, let me know, it may go up in the BST soon. Great putters, just looking to stick with one putter from here on out.

They pulled the shaft and reinstalled then had to bend a little bit to make sure it's face-balanced. Problem being is the way it sits address is a bit off now, mainly if you try and sole the putter on the ground.

Even though both shafts are double bends, it does seem like the stock shaft is different and bends at different points or has a short second bend. Because of the virus, I'll probably play how it is but I doubt I wont be going back to the stock shaft option. We'll see if I get use to how the black shaft looks at address.

@Titleist87 I have the black, only got it out for a couple rounds before they shut everything down out here and I do roll it quite a bit on my garage rug so theres no real gaming of it going on but it doesnt have a mark on it yet. Every time I think I am going to move on from it I hit some putts with it and realize I can not give up on it yet. Great stick with great stability.

Seeing as I play a Studio Design #5 and the black pearl finish has held up well, I'd expect the same from Mizuno.

I bought the II to mess around with during the shut down. It just got here a few days ago.

I like everything about it so far. Looks really good at address, puts a great roll on it and feels nice. May tinker with this one for a bit. I had a T22 and Scotty special select for a bit earlier this year and neither kept my interest.

Went into store looking for a toe hang mallet. Thinking it was going to be the Inovai 6.0 or Fastback 1.5. Liked them both but left with the M Craft 1. Just picked it up to try and it was butter. Feel was great but so was the weighting. Played one round and I am hooked. So much for going back to mallets.

Thinking of getting a II for a family member for Christmas.  I like the contrast of the blue or black finish with the sightline.  Any long term feedback on how either of those finishes has held up?

I don't have long-term info on the putters, but I did see a used Mizuno wedge in blue in my local PGA store the other day, and the finish wear was definitely noticeable on the sole.

That being said, since the putter will generally not have the same type of impact or sever usage that a wedge does, I'd be willing to bet that either the blue or the black finish on the putter would probably hold up well over time.

Long term review:

Mizuno M-Craft I (Black PVD finish)

I've had this for 9 months now. Paid $550 at House Of Golf Mentone (Melbourne AU). Hands down, this is the best putter I own. I rotate between 6 putters ranging from Odyssey Black Series #6 to Scotty Cameron Futura X to Ping PAL2. This putter gives me absolute confidence when standing over the ball from all distances.

I am mostly a blade style putter. Futura X putter only in play when I am in a funk. Before using this putter, my average was 31.2. Now my average putts per round is 28.05. My best round with this putter - 25 putts. I have stopped rotating my putters since buying this.

I will list my opinions:

  • overall, amazing quality and finish
  • PVD black finish is high quality - does not scratch or wear easily. Does not have a single blemish after 6 months of use (three months on carpet due to COVID lockdown). The imperfections in my picture are just moisture/dew
  • weight kit is handy - I use the two heaviest weights (13 g), have tried all combinations and this suits me best. You can change the toe hang by playing around with the weights
  • it is a heavier putter than most, even when using lighter weights
  • not the softest putter out there for feel, but the perfect amount for me. Gives amazing feedback for off-centre hits, but forgiving enough that your putts still roll to the hole (prob bc of heavy weight with my set up). Centre hits feel like BUTTER (cliche but true).
  • rolls the golf ball easily at impact - never fizzes the ball (for me anyway)
  • I am more confident with long putts - likely due to the heavy weight again
  • my 2nd favourite putter I own is probably the Odyssey Black Series #6, which is not as forgiving as this (good and bad I guess)
  • I added some paint highlights to the head to match my orange grip

Any negatives?

  • Price - RRP in Australia is $600, about 1/3 too expensive I think
  • Hard to get hold of one in Australia - I had to wait 2 months in Feb 2020.
  • head cover is good but uses velcro, which will wear quickly. I prefer magnetic clasps. I use my club branded head cover instead
  • does not come left-handed (sorry lefties)
  • I did not like the Grip Master leather grip that came with the putter - too fat and dampened all feedback. So I replaced it with a Lamkin EBL pistol Gen 3.

Would I recommend this putter? Absolutely YES.

Does anyone know the tip diameter of the M Craft I Putter? Thanks

+1. I am looking at ordering a M.Craft Type I from FairwayJockey with a Stability Tour shaft, and they give two options - .390 and .370. Do they both work with the M.Craft Type I head or is that a mistake? If they both work, what are the advantages of one over the other?
