Hard-stepped Modus 120x vs Soft-stepped 120 TX

I am hoping someone can provide some feedback on the two- 120x feels awesome however loose and light at times, when I hit the 120tx the flight is awesome just lose the “feel” of being able to manipulate the club.

does anyone have experience with soft stepped the tx or hard stepping the x and what the results would be?

Shaft weight is generally more important than the stiffness differences, so if the 120 X feels too light but the TX does not, then it's probably best to stick to the TX (which is 6 gm heavier). Or try to find a different shaft model that's also in that 125 gm range.

"lose the feel of being able to manipulate the club" sounds more like a swing weight issue than a stiffness issue. I'd recommend playing around with some lead tape on the head during testing to see if that might help improve the feel before trying to step them.

Soft hard stepping x1 is generally only a very subtle change. Only the more sensitive players can tell the difference. But regardless will be very subjective based on your swing and your sensitivity. There is one way to test the TX soft stepped. Basically add 7 gm of lead tape to the head and then test it choked up 1/2". That will reproduce what will happen to the stiffness when you soft step and let you know if it will help or not. But that will not be a perfect test since soft stepping will also alter the shaft weight a little bit, reduce it by a couple of grams. So it will not tell you whether the actual drop in static weight from soft stepping may start to cause some problems or not. And remember I did say that weight will generally be more important than stiffness.

@pioneerhockey37 I can't speak for the 120TX, but played both the 120X straight in and hard stepped. I much preferred the HS 1x... kept the same great feel with tighter dispersion. The balance point is very unique compared to shafts on the market so to give a "heavier" more balanced feel in the wedges I added lead tape around that shaft at the SW fulcrum point. It just worked for me.
