Heading To Kiawah Resort

I have been to Kiawah several times and played the OC twice. Both times I called Monday to make a tee time for one day that week. You should have no problems getting on. I was paired up with others both times. Make sure you have a drink and sit on the patio overlooking the ocean after your round. No carts before noon. After noon, you may use a cart but it is always cart path only. I used a caddie both times. They will have you switch your clubs and needed items into one of their carry bags I guess to save the caddies some wear and tear. They will tell you they recommend you bring a dozen balls which I thought was funny.

Their website says that cart's are allowed after 10 AM in the summer is that not correct? We've got a group playing next Friday and specifically set the time to be able to ride carts. For me I plan on taking my push cart but a lot of our group is overweight/out of shape.

Would be interested to hear what effect the Coronavirus had, if any on your trip to Kiawah after you get back.

Going to try and play at the end of the month as long as I can get a tee time and I was wondering will I be able to buy some souvenirs from the pro shop. Or even enjoy a beer on the deck after the round.

My dad has a bum knee so we took a cart, and yes it was after 10 am...we had the 10 am tee time on the nose.

I would warn you however that carts are really not much relief out there. It's "cart path" only but there aren't really true cart paths, just the sand dunes. So you are often leaving your cart very far away from the action and walking across big mounds of sand to get back to the fairway. My dad commented afterward that he probably would have preferred walking with a caddie.

So all the Pro Shops and course restaurants are still shut down. Disappointing to go to the Ocean course and not even get to tour the clubhouse or go to the Pub. Even worse we got rained out on the 6th hole so we're going to have to come back in October when we will be in Hilton Head for our annual golf trip. But it will probably be a better overall experience with everything open then. The course certainly is worth all the hype, and the back is supposedly the more scenic side.

Thanks for the update, I was afraid that might happen. I called and made a tee time for the end of June and while I was on the phone I asked how the coronavirus was effecting them. He mentioned the pro shop and restaurants were closed but they were optimistic they would be opened again later in the month.
