The way I read it was that Sergio was supposed to move to a Callaway ball at some point. His contract must have been setup that way while Stenson’s wasn’t because he told them he wouldn’t ever want to change. And Sergio was probably getting paid more to move to the ball.

When he signed his deal it included the ball. He played the CSX until last year when he switch to tp5 then prov later in the year

I absolutely agree.

It is a really bad image for a sponsor to be related with a person that doesn't have a minimum of respect for the game, his peers or even himself.

After his last incident ruining the greens in Saudi Arabia, he should have been banned from the European Tour as an example... In the same event while 'killing' the sand of a bunker after a bad shot you could clearly hear him saying the worst things about caddies while his own brother was the one carrying his bag...

There are many videos in YouTube compiling 'sweeties' like spitting into the cup, throwing away his shoe or his clubs, insulting Tiger, bitching about Augusta conditions and many other unbelievable actions... It is weird to see the price that Tiger Woods paid for his marital sins and Sergio getting free passes for all the actions mentioned before.

I honestly believe golf players should be judged for their contribution to the game and their attitude and example on the course... If this was the case, Sergio would have lost his sponsors long time ago.

Basically he said the Callaway ball is a POS which he couldn't play and Callaway wouldn't let me change balls so that was a game ender for him. I saw him talking about it after the 1st round of the HSBC in an interview.

Say what you want about Sergio but those blueprints are nice. Glide wedges are great too. Haven’t smacked a 410 yet. Playing the PROV1x which is cool.

Sergio did move the Chrome Soft ball at the start of 2018. He won right out of the gate in Singapore with the Chrome Soft and won later in 2018 with the Chrome Soft X. He continued to play to Callaway ball into 2019.

Phil has been crooked off the tee for the most part his entire professional career whether it's been a Titleist or Callaway ball. His driver swing is more responsible for his poor performance off the tee than what ball he is using. Phil has been a Callaway staffer since late 2004. It's not their ball.

I am a big fan of Tiger but I’m somewhat shocked how this gets overlooked and then people talk about how terrible some of these other guys are. Sergio, Bubba, etc.

On ITR yesterday they said his deal ended because Sergio wouldn't the Chrome soft ball. Who knows what the truth is.

Ping makes perfect sense , play which ever ball he likes.

Chrome soft name needs to end and when they fix the balls come back as something else.

I’d bet Phil’s balls are hand picked. x rayed etc to talk him into playing them at this point. I doubt very seriously that Phil plays a ball that’s known to have a core so out of center that a whole dozen can be tested at anytime and found to have a wobbly roll or cut open to find the core well shifted to one side.

Sergio just interviewed on Sky. He said he is a free agent and wanted to try both Taylormade and Ping. He said he now has a mixed bag of both for the time being. Basically said that the other manufacturers didnt quite suit his eye.

Sergio going back to TM won't yield him a lot of money and Ping won't either. At this point in his career he is either going to go back to old faithful TM because that is what he is accustomed to OR he will go Ping because their equipment truly fits his eye. I think Sergio should use a mixed bag and make his money on course through good play. I could see him having a solid 2020!

There have been a lot of articles about the fact that except for a few big names (Tiger, Phil, etc.) of multiple major winners, there's not as much money in equipment contracts as there once was. And it's not like Sergio is a newbie trying to scratch out a living on Tour, he probably set financially - so it's probably a wise move to have a mixed bag of what fits his eye and his game.
