Cobra big tour 3: anyone tried it?

Recommended Posts

My local fitter doesn’t have it in the demo cart... I’m thinking it’s going to be my first purchase this year... anyone tried one yet?

im curious as to how big it looks at address, performance and shaft options!

Obviously you aren't a bowler.

If you have the right shaft the wife won't need much convincing.

I‘m crying ?

my son demo'd it. I set it down to look at address position, does not look big, a bit bigger than Epic Flash SZ - He hit it with Cobra's Black Atmos 7. He loved it, sounded great, very anti-left. Long

Great topic - I was at PGA SuperStore in FL last week. Had some time and wanted to check out the new Cobra offerings. Started with the new driver, and really liked it. I currently have the F9 fairway so I wanted to try the new FW after having such a good time with the driver. Clerk set the 3W up for me - tweaked a few things with shaft, loft, etc. and ended up really liking it. At this point I did not realize this was the BIG version. Only until I got home and started looking into them more online did I realize this. So, for the size comparison - nothing stuck out to me as BIG. It was easy to hit (albeit off the mat) and as a fairway finder off the tee it was great. I definitely want to try it again and look at it compared to the stock 3W.

Nice! I'm looking for a consistent fairway finder off the tee... I'm hoping this fits the bill. I have it in my head it will help me on my home course... we shall see if that's true!

Curious if Cobra is going to come back with FWs that DON'T have rails? Not a fan of them and still playing my LTDs instead. Would be nice to have an option.

RI REDNECK - If i remember correctly, the BIG version rails were very minimal. On my F9 off of a mat I sometimes catch the rails when sliding the head on the mat, but I didn't notice this when I tried the BIG version. Also the employee commented on this after the fact, but I had not put 2+2 together on the BIG vs. traditional at that time.

For what it's worth, I spoke to a Cobra rep I trust and asked for their opinion. He said it is not forgiving, but long. If you are a solid ball striker with your fairway metals, then this could be a great club for you, especially off the tee. He suggested that the standard SZ, with the right shaft is a better fit for most, plenty long and very forgiving (high launch/low spin).

Interesting... I really wish someone would make a 2 wood... though I don't think the Original 1 did all that well.

Yes this is a replacement for the LTD. Bryson and Lexi still play it. Cobra would like to get something new in their hands. Bigger footprint than the Tour for higher MOI, while still having a low and forward CG. The size is essentially the same as the standard fairway, different profile though with a deeper face. Really nice option off the tee.

The Big Tour is technically less forgiving than the standard fairway because of the forward CG position=lower MOI. It is way more forgiving than the Tour fairway. I sold my F9 fairway for the Big Tour 3 wood. May be the best fairway wood I have ever hit. Fixes everything that was wrong with the F9 fairway. It's 2*+ flatter, it swing weights heavier, it spins less, and just as forgiving on miss hits for me. Don't let the 13.5* loft number keep you from swinging it, you will hit it higher than you think. Also hit the Speedzone Tour fairway as well. It sits more flat than the F9 Tour Fairway and looks much better this time around, but man if that thing isn't the blade of fairway woods. "Workable" can be a double edge sword and I clearly don't need a workable fairway wood. Sure is pretty though...

The only problem is gapping. It is super long. I will be cutting a .5" off mine.

I think the big tour is a great option off the tee. Really what this club is designed for. Deeper face, forward CG, lower spin. Probably more difficult to elevate off the deck vs. the standard 3 wood.

i think he just wants a 2 wood in writing to show up on the sole when he adjusts loft to 13.5/14

I don’t care what’s stamped on the head. I want a 300cc 13/14 degree club that I can hit off the deck but is designed for use on the tee. It’s a unicorn request, so I’m looking for the next best thing.

i didn’t get along with the original one for whatever reason.
