That has to be my favorite body style porsche ever. I always wanted one of those, especially back when I was a teenager in 94 when it was new.

Thanks my man! Me too. I have always loved the 964 because it was air-cooled and low production. Finding a factory widebody was icing on the cake.

Yep.  This has the 428 Police Interceptor engine.  The Cobra Jet 427 was a mid-production change in 1968 sometime in May I think.  Mine was built before they started using the Cobra Jet 428 by a few months I think.

Ah!  An earlier car.  Have a 68 gt350 in my shop now that  was damaged going from AO smith back to New Jersey , hood was hit by the overhead ramp on the transport truck. .  They replaced the hood with a KR version with the underhoood ducting for the air cleaner.  It sold new with that hood.  And it lived  its entire life with it.  I uncovered the paperwork to document this while trying to also prove  it was sold new with the Paxton supercharger.    Never did prove the dealer added it before the sale , but it is period correct and obviously been on the car for a long time.

car is all apart now for metal fab ( New Jersey car from day 1 ) and restoration, and as of now the plan is to put the supercharger back on ...... even if it was a owner add on later.

Gotcha.  The hoods are hard to find, if you end up needing one, especially being fiberglass.  I have most of the original parts, including the original hubcaps sitting in the garage.  Most of the car is original.  I flew my mechanic down to Florida when I bought it, to make sure it was in good condition.  He spent about a couple hours going over it before giving it the thumbs up.

Be careful when you upgrade to a “more rugged” tire. Make sure you check the load ratings. Most larger all terrains are E rated, which is basically what used to be “10 ply” tires. They are great for a work truck that is hauling and/or towing big heavy loads, but on a nice daily driver, they ride like garbage. I had 285/60 20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my Ram and for 2 years (and nearly 60k miles) I regretted buying them. I felt every pebble in the road. I bought this truck specifically for the ride quality (I’ve owned 9 F150s, and this was my first Ram). Within 1/4 mile of the test drive I knew I was buying it solely based on the ride quality. The tires changed that. I recently replaced them with stock size 275/60 20 Cooper Evolution HT street tires and it is like a brand new truck again. Lesson learned. If you’re not planning to do some pretty hardcore off-roading in it (being a platinum, I wouldn’t think you would), I recommend keeping an SL rated P Metric tire. XL rated at most, but stay away from E rated LT tires unless you need them.

Your tire story is exactly what my buddy went through when he put MT tires on his GM Sierra. I’m not going to tow anything heavier than a small utility trailers so there’s no point in looking at an LT tire. I’m planning on putting Toyo Open Country AT3’s on the truck in the same load rating since the’ve been super well reviewed. The side wall look off road worthy, the tread pattern aggressively rugged looking without creating excessive noise and they are 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake rated.

Interesting...I thought Miami was only a recent offering.  Did you respray it or was this a PTS car? (I have Mexico Blue - they are pretty close)

I have BF Goodrich KO2's on my Rav4. As @bigred90gt mentions you will notice a big difference in how they ride on pavement. They are very noisy, it's like driving with a humming sound LOL

That being said depending on how you use the car they are also awesome. I use them as a year round tire since they are snow rated (and amazing in the snow)

We got another downfall here this past weekend so i took my car out for some more runs. Here's another pic

I hear nothing but good about the Toyos. I personally am a Cooper fan. I've never had a bad experience with their tires, and they flat out last forever. They have the AT3 4S which is available most places, and I believe a little cheaper than the Toyos. If you have a discount tire near you, they also make an ATP that is discount tire specific. They have a slightly more aggressive tread than the AT3, and are a little cheaper. If there is an NTB, they also have the RTX, which from what I read is a fantastic snow tire. One of the reasons I like them is they're made in the US.

also, if you ever wanted to learn more about your truck than you could possibly care to actually know (kind of like most of us do here with golf), www.f150forum.com is a great resource. I've been a member there for 8 years, though I don't post much now that I drive a Ram.

Hopefully no-one gets too upset (especially the Audi chaps), as this is, IMHO, the holy grail of Vorsprung Durch Technik...  Parked in my driveway...

I worked for Audi for 17 years, driven everything they made between 2004 and 2020, including being one of 7 Audi Sport Experts in South Africa.  Spent a week on the Yas Marina in Abu Dahbi with Audi Sport and a fleet of 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus Coupes.

Now I do what I want and play golf, and trade in cheap runarounds...

This is great advice. My current F150 is a ‘18 Limited that comes stock with 22” wheels. (My wife calls it my gentleman’s truck.) Those wheels have a very small bias and I hate the look so I swapped them for the OEM 20” that are stock on Platinums. I put Bilstein’s on the front to raise it 2” to level and installed 275/60/20’s which are much better for the occasional towing I do and a better look IMO. Anything bigger puts them into the LT category which is heavier and noisier (less MPG too.)

+1 on https://www.f150forum.com. Every question you have will have an answer there and not unlike GolfWRX dozens of competing opinions.

Just saw this thread. Cars and golf are my primary 2 vices in life, both to my wife's chagrin.

I'm currently driving a '17 340i xDrive which has been a great daily driver. Fantastic speed but usable every day. I'll likely switch over to a 4Runner or Colorado / Canyon in a year or two though as I've been waiting on finding the right 996TT to come to market. Been saving for one, like most people in addition to retirement and the kids college, for the last 8-9 years and have enough that I can dedicate towards getting a good low mileage version when one comes up. I was tempted to use it instead on the new C8 Z51 but I've wanted a Midnight Blue 996TT since one in 2001. I wish I would've bought on 3-4 years ago as the value has almost doubled since then.

Ugh. Love Pcars. And turbos especially.  Im trying to convince wife that a 911 would be an investment.  Im getting close.  Turbos are out of my range..i like the 4S bc it has similar front end and hips as ur turbo.   Beauty!  Some 90’s turbos are well into 6 digits, its insane.
