I would have to disagree (poster originally said the cobra was real, and has since edited it). I believe with that dash/gauge cluster layout, along with a glovebox, that's a Superformance MkIII in Portofino (that shade of blue is specific to Superformance). Also interior is just wayyyyyyyyy too new with no, literally no signs of aging (shiny side pipes are a dead giveaway too).

Can't see the pedals. Most if not all reproductions have them suspended and not out of the floor. If you see it again, peek your head in the drivers side and look at them. 😉  I live about 15 min from Factory Five and have learned more about Cobras than I ever thought I would, mostly spotting the differences between the kits (FF, SPF, and Kirkham) vs real. No tarnishing on chrome bits, brand new interiors, perfectly looking alignment on body panels (which hardly any authentic cobras had) and the pedals... are quick giveaways. Suspension being next to look at. And lastly, one doesn't just park $1m+ worth of car on the curb on a public street - Carmel or not.

You're absolutely right and I should have known better since I knew someone in the early 70's that had a real Cobra and a friend that had a Superformance Cobra as well

That could be one of the Shelby cars from recent years.    ..and if that's his real signature on the glove box, he's been known to sign very good replica cars at various events, even if they weren't his own.

In the 80's I worked at a high end car dealership.

We used to display Bill Cosby's Cobra on the showroom floor when he was performing in town ( Atlantic City )

He had a real one with a custom numbered brass plate

I sold a nice 427 repro Cobra to the bass player for Guns and Roses- He was super stoned ., payed top dollar and had his assistant drive it. At the time I felt it was a waste of a nice car-had an amazing motor that just roared when you hit it

Not much sounds better than a big old Ford V8

The last of the Supercharged. 2006 MINI Cooper S with the John Cooper Works Factory upgrades. Bought it for my daughter but I cant stop driving it!

After my daughter's 2012 Mini Cooper coupe was totaled (she was hit almost head on at around 55 mph while sitting at a stoplight, and walked away), we bought her a 2015 Cooper S 4 Door. It is a completely different car and driving experience. We also test drove a countryman, but the S was just better in every way. That car handles like it's on rails. We bought it in January 2019 and it only had 5000 miles on it.

Talk me off a ledge here. TRD Off Road RAV 4 starts at $36k. 4Runner Trail is $38k. Why would one get a RAV4 over the 4Runner for roughly the same price?

I looked at the 4Runner trail actually. I had to pretty much immediately nix it because it wouldn't fit in my underground garage. It's a townhouse complex built in the 80s where the ceiling height in certain places isn't much over 6 feet. The Chevrolet ZR2 barely fit for example. So the 4runner with the box up top, there was no chance

In the end i looked at the Tacoma TRD more than the 4Runner. It also fit in my garage....

But in the end i went with the RAV because:

-I prefer AWD to 4WD for the snow

-the RAV is way better on gas

-There is an aftermarket shop around here (LP) that specializes in RAV4s, so getting things like skid plates or rock sliders is very easy and i can do it all at one place. I want to put skid plates on my car next. I thought i wouldn't need them, but i came close to going over some rocks when i was in some deep snow the other day, and it got me worried

I posted in this thread way back towards the beginning, and I'm not the same kind of "car enthusiast" as the rest of you. But, here's my current baby. '99 base model SL with manual transmission. It doesn't look it, but it's honestly a ton of fun to drive. Total cost OTR: ~$2,300.

If memory serves, I think it's the 6th rock from the sun, and while it does contain a core surrounded by some rocky material, it is primarily composed of hydrogen and helium. It's most noteworthy feature, of course, is the prominent and striking ring system.
