I've owned both. I prefer the Wilson. Something about the lines are just perfect from address. They are a bit longer and a bit more forgiving. Both feel like butter - nothing in it from a feel perspective. The long irons are more consistent in the Wilsons for me.

I have the MP-20 but could have just as easily been seduced by the Wilsons. What I love about the Wilsons are the shape, the look at address, the notched hosel and the little diamond cutouts on either side of the grooves. Very distinguished, old-school look.

Where they lost me was the inexplicable stamping of "forged" across the sole of the club, and the little black hosel-port-cap-thingy on the heel. Totally messed up the aesthetic of an otherwise gorgeous iron. They still look great, but I still slightly prefer the cleaner design of the MP-20s.

I tested the MP20's twice and was actually going to get fitted for them until I hit the Wilsons. I didn't notice a lot of difference between the two but the Wilsons just fit my eye a little better and they were a whopping $12.50 per iron cheaper.

Wilsons have a really soft feel. I also found them to carry further than the MP-18 MB, SC and JPX 919 tour by about 5 yards - very consistent though. What I would really like to see from Wilson though is an update to their cavity back line that could combo with the blades.

bc52: after looking at your signature, I suppose you could just cut them at the 6 iron and go hybrid from there. How do you like the gapping with the PING anser?

I just got my custom set. Have hit both extensively on Sim. IMO the long end is a bit more forgiving in the Wilson. Ball speed deviation was much tighter. I love both sets and you can’t make a bad decision. If you’re doing a combo Mizzy all day.

So I’ve decided to go with Wilson staff blade if I get blades. I don’t really need any blades or new irons. But they look so nice and I hear exceptional things about them. I am an 8 cap and am currently gaming apex pros . Do you think there will be a massive lose in forgiveness? Have you played a “players iron” recently in comparison with your new Wilson’s? If so I’m curious about the fee and turf interaction etc..

trying to figure out if I should pull the trigger or not ?

3VJKA0XJ3YSI.jpegThat is very player dependant. I love the extra camber on the Wilson’s as far as turf interaction goes. The Apex pro have a ton of bounce so they will likely feel familiar. As far as forgiveness all I can say is my ball speeds are freaky consistent with these but I don’t spread strike all over the face. They are one of the more forgiving blades I’ve hit. Search the reviews on plugged in golf of both the Wilson and MP20s. He seems to think the Wilson are more playable. I loved both sets. The staff are definitely longer though. The attached screenshot is a 7 iron from my lesson today.

Last question man... sorry for all the questions. I recently bought a piretti putter (was previously hitting a tm spider) and my god ... it feels amazing . Just pure buttery smooth and the ball rolls perfectly. Obviously I have some putts I miss hit and I feel it, but this opened my eyes to how enjoyable a good putt can feel. Makes me a enjoy the game a bit more. Well I am playing apex pros 19 at the moment. They feel great to me, but I hear people talk about how smooth and great blades feel. Sounds like you know a bit about the apex pros.. did you hit them? Is there a massive difference in feel? I do benefit from the forgiveness the apex pros have I know , but if there is a huge difference in feel and the “buttery smooth” talk isn’t all hype then I think I’ll go buy some blades. I will go to pga store and hit some this weekend may have to be in a few weeks, but just curious what your thoughts are between the two and if the legendary feel lives up.

Totally know what you mean about the feel of something that pure. The Apex Pro are pretty forgiving and long. I have hit them and the Apex MB quite a bit. The Apex MB feel markedly better. The Apex Pro were quick clicky to me. If you want that good feel you don't need to go full blade. You could find some Apex Pro Dot on BST or Ebay. They feel amazing as well. Or the other option would be to grab say 7-P or 8-P in the MB off BST and just swap them into your set. Almost any player can use blades without drastic drop offs in the short irons. I feel confident over a bladed 4 but many don't so you have to think about a 200 yard shot over water that you have to make the carry and whether you'd feel okay using something that small. You will definitely get the feeling you're after with a true one piece forgiving though whether it's a CB like the Dot, Srixons, Bridgestone etc or a blade.

I was thinking about doing the Apex mb mixed in my set. Any difference in feel between Apex mb and Wilson? Or any big differences in general? Kind of a golf nut now so I may just buy some Wilson’s if I like them the best and switch off between iron sets haha. Play them when I’m really wanting that pure feeling and play the pros when I’m trying to win club tournaments. I’m pretty diligent when it comes to practice, I think I’ll eventually adjust. Hopefully it gives me that second to none feedback and makes a better ball striker. Thanks for getting back to me on this. I’m now pumped to continue my new discovery of pure feels in golf!

Basically, I don't find the Wilson very demanding for my swing at all. That said I swing it reasonably quick but I do have some negatives about my swing that I'm trying to work out. Quick swing but need to lower my dynamic loft at impact and increase AoA. I hit middle most of the time though. Everything I've heard on here and reviews I've read show them to be pretty forgiving for a blade. I think you'll love them.
