Does anybody else notice Faldo's bias

Yup, noticed Sunday midway through his round, very enthusiastic after reaching hole 9-10. After a 3-putt and subsequent poor shots early on the back, he very quickly held his tongue.

You have approx. 84 international players on the PGATOUR, from approx. 24 countries. Faldo do not try to hide his bias and loyalty to England.....LOL! Faldo was knighted and Jim Nantz makes that known at the beginning of every show by calling him "Sir Nick".

With all the fawning over the American players by every other announcer....the international needs an advocate as well.....LOL! imo

I don't know how many countries televise the tour but I like Faldo and the job that he's doing....

Faldo is terrible and its not because he is bias. He makes no sense 50% of the time and adds no value. CBS Broadcast is almost unwatchable.

Faldo's been one of my favorites since I was a kid. I prefer watching him play but I'll take his broadcasting work too.

Of course Faldo is going to be bias for Euro's. He's a Euro and still a player in his heart. I listened to Faldos broadcast and didn't hear anything of concern, and I am as American as they come. I am not a fan of Rory but am a fan of Faldos style of announcing espeically how he played the game. I am also self-taught using three-books to learn golf, one was authored by Nick Faldo.

Everyone has a bias, just some are more distorted and unhealthy than others.

As a Canadian who bounces between watching telecast on US networks, vs skysports, if there is any media Bias, it's extremely heavy for Americans.

Especially in team events, like President's cup and Ryder Cup. Sky Sports in UK do a great job of just appreciating great golf, where as NBC for those events are so pro American, which from a sports broadcasting performance seems a little wrong. You wouldn't want NFL commentator rooting for one team or another.

So maybe the notice of Nick Faldo, could be because he points out other players that don't often get mentioned because they are European??

A side note though, I get bothered by their level of professionalism, many of us due to this site and other sources, we know what is in guys bag, and the amount of times IBF, Faldo and others will say so and so is using a club that we all know they don't have.

Faldo definitely has a bias, and I welcome it. Without it, the rest talk about Tiger even when he's 8 shots back. When they have a golf package on SportsCenter, it's 99% Tiger. "Scott Van Pelt here with Andy North. Andy, Tiger is 11 shots back with two holes to go. Does he have a chance?" "Well, Scott. It's a tough get for Tiger, but he's never out as long as he's breathing."

Faldo is great. I don't notice any bias. Any time Rory, Woods, or DJ are in the hunt they are gonna get a lot of air time. Those guys pump up the ratings moreso than Koepka, Thomas, Spieth, etc.

ETA: Ad let's be honest, 99% of the viewers would prefer to watch Tiger, Rory, or DJ walk around their house than see any other player make eagle to win a golf tournament.

I live Faldo and enjoy his commentary. I didnt watch what you referenced but as a very "opinion forward" guy, I wouldnt be surprised if he focused on some Euro guys more. Also, as it was said, they all comment on who is on the screen the most which always isnt the leaders.

That being said I dont mind when a commentator has some bias toward a player he likes or roots for. I think we actually need more cheering from the commentators! Everyone has favorite players or likes to see a guy come from behind. I think the commentators should let that shine through more in their work. They shouldn't root against anyone but I never see rooting for a particular player as rooting against the rest.

Because they broadcast to people beyond just Americans, even if you just keep it inside the US, ignoring that it's picked up around the world, I'm sure there are people in the U.S that maybe rooting for the other team. The point is the medium shouldn't be US vs THEM. If its to be reputable broadcasting of a sporting event, there shouldn't be any bias. Similarly to when watching a Canada vs U.S hockey game on CBC, you wouldn't have a clue where the commentators are from when listening to them.

I couldn't disagree more. He is the most accomplished golfer to provide color commentary since Byron Nelson. He knows what it's like to stand over a putt to win a major, and he conveys it well, IMO. He's not my favorite, but I'd much rather listen to him giving his expert opinion than Jimmy Roberts or whoever pontificating on the deeper meaning of golf.

He probably wouldn't make a great play by play announcer, but they don't try to make him one -- he's there to add a player's perspective to the main coverage, and he does it well.
