My irons are seven years old and I'm getting the itch. The ones I have my eye on will likely get refreshed this year, but I know it won't be leaps and bounds over the current offering.

Anyone debating a buy vs. wait?

Going through the buy vs wait on a new driver. Put the Titleist 913 back in the bag last fall and was very happy with the result.

However, after reading about the SIM, Mavrik and Cobra, it's likely there will be a fitting in the near future and then a decision on buy vs wait.

I already sold my entire golf bag, and thinking about making some big changes in set composition--so I'm buying!

However, this seems like a year where things are starting to look very, very similar to me. I'm having a really hard time pulling a trigger on anything. Either things aren't "wowing" me, or performance is just so similar across the board that it's negligible. After this year, I think I'm going to hold off for a while and give equipment time to make some big leaps (if any).

Bought some used JPX 900 forged irons. Loving them so far. Also a new putter.

I got several bags with different sets, numerous putters and my “gamers” consists of 17 clubs I always struggle to get down to 14.

What I am trying to say is: If the purchase makes you play more and enjoy the game more - buy.

Bought Ping G700 irons after a fitting at a significant savings over the new G710.

The G710 was not out at the time of my fitting. So, no comparison data. Just marketing info from Ping on the new G710.

i went forward with irons and back with the driver :) Cobra F9 to Ping G400 LST.

... I don't think there is an easy answer, especially since the OP did not name the clubs he was thinking about. For instance with woods, looking at the Cobra F9 and trying to decide if you should wait for the SpeedZone, I think unless you just want the latest model, there will probably be little difference (if any) to justify the extra $. Otoh, the SpeedZone Xtreme is a different animal and could well be worth the $ if forgiveness is not as good as you need with the F9.

... I am not getting younger at 66 so I picked up 2019 P790's and sold my 2017 P790's. There is some difference from a better shape/look at address and some slightly changed tech but the improvements are really marginal. 15 years ago I would just hang on to my 2017 model but since I can afford them and like them a little better, I went ahead and bought the new ones. I am under no illusions that they will make any difference at all in my scores or ball striking, just enhance my personal enjoyment. I do think it varies for every player so you just have to figure out what is more important at this time in your golfing life.

Waiting for the next Ping and Titleist woods and the next Ping (G-series) and Mizuno (HM) replacements to drop. Will go Ping, Titleist, or Cobra in woods and will take the better of the next Ping or Mizuno game improvement irons. I've hit everything out now and don't exactly love any of it, that's why I'll wait and compare. I'll also replace my SM7s with SM8s or Ping Glide 3.0 when I pull the trigger on the rest. Oh, and I'm gonna put the new Odyssey Rossie in the bag. A Rossie was the first putter I ever had, so it'll be a cool little throwback.

This. I just went and tested every new driver. They’re all the same. Only thing I figured out is I work better with very short driver shafts (43.5-44.5). My shortened TS3 blew everything out of the water. If your current stick is ill fit you can find gains. If your irons are ill fit you’ll find gains. Fit and swing are king. Tech is BS to a point.

Put the Srixon 785 irons in the bag, Will be looking at drivers

shortly, after they all get to the stores, Thinking Mizuno 200's

or Cobra, but can't rule out the Callaway or Taylormade and

others.

Just retired the Titleist 714 AP2s for ApexCF19s. Very pleased with the update, as I felt like the tech in the clubs and shafts has improved enough for me to see a noticeable difference in my shot. Of course its a slippery slope, because now I think I need new wedges and fairway woods since the distance gapping has changed so much.

I’m overall very happy with my current set up.

i am interested in some of the new hollow body, foam filled irons, though.

Love my Forged Tec Blacks. G400 is the best driver I’ve owned. G410 hybrids are working great, and SM7’s are working great.

Putters rotate through my collection, if anything “new” comes in, it will be through trade.

Doubt I’ll change much of anything.

I get most of my stuff used but I still like to try to wait for price drops on a generation or two old equipment. I couldn't wait on the 919 tours and the G410 hybrids are so good I'll probably just get a couple from 2nd swing. I did order a tour striker planemate which should arrive in February, so that will keep me occupied for a while.
