Ping G425 closer than we think? (In hand Pics Pg. 16)

I am going to predict that the crown material changes this year.  I also have a feeling that Ping wouldn't go with carbon fiber...ever, remember, they purchased the RZN tech from the Nike shutdown and patent fire sale.  I would guess RZN is easier to manufacture and offers some advantages as carbon fiber is generally a "by hand" product.  I personally own the VaporFlex 440 and it pained me to retire it (got a free TS2) because of how amazing the sound of the club was with the composite crown, hoping Ping improves and incorporates it.  My gut says this could be the year because from a marketing point of view, they chose to up the naming to convention up 15, and while that may sound stupid, I am guessing their marketing team will say that the changes this year were more substantial and game changing, i.e. wasn't just an evolution to 420 but a paradigm shift,  demanded "425".  No intel here, just a huge Ping fan shooting the breeze and throwing out ideas.

PING had Carbon in the past with the Rapture. Great driver at the time. I don’t know why they went away from it.

I mean you could be right... maybe there is a cavity so they could distribute more weight in the rear of the club head to promote even more rearward cg. It doesn't really look like a camera glare to me.

Nvm...its chrome plated...look at the SFT picture

I see what you're looking at there, but the SFT has it as well and the three little black shapes in the image are consistent on both the right and left handed heads, which just tells me that the surface is consistently reflecting something in the room where the photos are taken.

A cavity would actually be counterintuitive to weight redistribution as it would require structure and support reaching higher in to the head towards the crown. That would require more material and this would both raise the CG and move it forward.

You're totally right those black shapes move through the images.... Nothing to see here, just some really really bad eyes.

Plus the cavity would be counter-intuitive to the weight of the clubhead.

Not bad eyes! Just PTSD from the Nike Vapor drivers ?

I really doubt they will move G irons that way. They are already super crowded on the "better" player side. They already have the i500, i210, iblade & blueprint irons for various levels of better players. If they move the G irons that way they won't have an entry level GI iron at all. The G710 is a hollow body that will automatically turn off some people plus it's $165 per club. The 425 iron needs to stay as a full GI sized & offset iron at the $115-125/club price. They need something to compete with Mavrik, Sim, Hot metal, T300, etc.

It's all relative. I definitely don't think they'll move the G series towards something that would get widespread use on any of the tours. And one could argue (IMO) that the G400 and G410 are essentially the same irons.  Tiny differences that are barely noticeable when you have the two clubs side by side and you can study them. But the G410's are a smidge shorter blade, a smidge less offset and a smidge slimmer sole than the G400's. So PING has already moved their G series in that direction.  A tiny move further and I'm buying probably sight unseen.  I love the forgiveness of the G series.

Especially if they offer them in retro spec lofts this time around. Even less offset and gaps better with existing wedges if you currently have irons with weaker lofts.

So not sure if anyone noticed BUT I *thought* I saw Champ playing the 425 this weekend during the charity thing on Wednesday.  I paused and rewound a couple times and was like "something looks different" but couldn't quite tell and forgot about it.

I played with 3 other guys Sunday.  One guy is 65 and kind of a gadfly.  Last time I played with him, he had an older Cobra (F6 or older) and was spraying it all over.   I guess he hits it about 250 to 260 total.  He had a new Ping G400 or 410 and was hitting fairways a lot more.   The pics of the G425 are really nice.

I wasn't crazy about the driver (personal preference) but that 3 wood I could get on board with.

Thanks I thought they were going to do the driver the same as the Threewood in the matte finish, myself I’m not totally into the gloss and I have not hit it yet, so as far as looks and if it sets up as good and I hit  a lot of fairways I’m gonna be really happy with it but I was told in a quick minute they can put a matte finish on it no problem.

Looks like the LST might finally reach the very low spin category. Curious how forgiving it might be compared to the 410 which I thought was a good overall mix...just not quite low spin enough for me

Good spot!

Ping tour players have the heads for offer the same week they are released on the Conforming list, we will see a ton of G425's in the bags at the BMW Championship.

Love that one random dude posted pic's of a "M2" painted G410+ to confuse everyone, can't wait to see some Instagram accounts steal the photos and not read the content and tell everyone it's the G425 Max ? ??
