Turbulators : (

I was so anti turbulators for years, then hit the 410 and saw the forgiveness and performance.

Now I don't even notice them.

I like the turbulator look, and they are a bit less than they were on the 410. Ping make such great drivers that this isn't even an issue to me.

My Driver, 3 wood combo..

My advice, don't buy a new driver until you get the chance to hit these.

I agree- the 410 LST was a game changer for me. The forgiveness has been phenomenal. Once I set it to flat I never hit the sweet spot so often in a driver. I know that PING only comes out with something new after some dramatic engineering, so I am very intrigued as well. Did they improve the distance I wonder?

I'm same as you with G410 LST in flat setting. It looks better to my eye at address and performance is excellent.  I will definitely try the new G425 LST if it is lower spin with same or better forgiveness.

In all honesty, the turbs don't do that much for ss that are low, and even for high swing speeds it is minimal. I do like their drivers though.

Come one now, turbulators work, and Ping has known this for a while. Besides, function before form anyway.

Here's all you need to keep digging Ping drivers...!

Function over form...may I submit to you the Cleveland VAS. Those weapons won a PGA Championship years ago.

How does the G425 compare relative to the G400 lineup? Re: spin, launch..

going to upgrade the G400 LST, tend to be a bit of a high spin even to down AOA. But wanting more forgiveness, so was thinking of going G425 max at 9.

Downward angle of attach rises your optimal spin (as you probably already know).  See attached chart for details if not.

What loft & shaft in the 400 LST currently?

10*. I am launching around 11-13 and have 2600-3000 spin. But I want more stability, hence going from 445 to 460cc.

Hi Everyone,

I have been looking for some reviews on the G425 3 wood for a while, but struggling to find anything except for big Al, and his results are generally quite different from most human beings.

I hit the 3 wood on Friday and for someone that has always struggled with a  fairway (I currently don't carry one) was pleasantly surprised.

I hit the LST with the White Rogue to start, spin was too low, I couldn't launch it at all. Rogue white with max head was better (and I loved the shape of the max head) , but spin was still a killer. It was launching too low and falling out of the air with ball club speed around 108mph - it was spinning at around 1600 and one down in the 1200 range.

Switched to the Ping Alta CB Slate 65 shaft which felt quite a bit softer and launch angle lifted, spin went up into the range I wanted and club speed increased to 113mph. Gapping hit where it is needed, rolling to around 240m (260y).

I don't know anything about the shaft, and I can't find any information on the slate version, but it worked really well for me.

I ordered it that afternoon, and managed to get $100 (Au) off for a black Friday sale...

I hope this helps others in my situation that were/are looking for some feedback.

To each their own.
Not saying it’s a bad product- far from it. Clearly it works or they would have gotten rid of it by now. Just don’t like the look is all.

It must not bother you too much because I figure if you're posting in this forum you either own a ping or have interest in getting one.

Last Ping I had was a G25. Wouldn’t be opposed to playing the 425 if it beats out my current TS4 gamer.

Ping being who they are, and if I were a betting man, I would bet this 425 is going to be a fantastic driver. It sort of has a nice look on the top even with the turbulators as they have been reduced in size, but I seen a picture of it in a YouTube video and I think it looks really nice.
