I will just take the shaft but I plan to look at all the heads they have to find the one I like at address.

I am even tempted to take in scales to weigh the heads to match my M5 as I know it has a little hot melt in it.

Lol strolling in to Dick's with a scale. I bet those guys will be thrilled! Not to say I wouldn't do the exact same thing...

On Golf.com’s podcast Drop Zone, Andrew Tursky wrote an article mentioning that it’s been all hands on deck when it comes to G425 production. Accountants and even Ping President John K. Solheim are on the assembly line to help keep

up with demand. He also mentioned that a container fell overboard into the ocean making the trip over, so Ping is figuring out what to do with that product. Might cause some delays.

i preordered a max 3 wood with the tour 75 stiff and a 3 hybrid with the tour 85 stiff and picked them up at the store today.

I think the fairway might look a little longer front to back than my g400 3wood but it looks very nice.

The hybrid, to my eye, looks slightly larger than the g410, but I traded my g410 in a few months ago so i can't directly compare

I was able to sneak over and pick up my clubs this afternoon, and hit the simulator at my home course for a few hacks with each one.  9* LST driver, LST 3 wood, and a 3&4 hybrid.  All with an Oban Devotion Xstiff

Everything looks and feels great, and even though I hit all of these during a fitting- it's always a little bit better when they're fully assembled and more importantly, yours.  The launch & descent angles, height, and distance all seemed to be in line with what we saw on the trackman.

Impressed with the delivery time, but as somebody else mentioned I think retailers and builders have had the components for a while.

I was fitted for the same 425 LST with the Oban Devotion 7 X-Stiff.  I had been playing a Ventus 6-S in my 410 +    Glad to hear there's someone else out there with the same setup 🙂

Hit G425 Max today at my club, just on the range with my head pro getting his eye on launch conditions, but no official numbers.

For reference, my SS is 99-101, AOA is typically 0 to -1.0.

  • HOT! Ball is coming off extremely fast and high launch.
  • Sound is a bit loud on center strikes, but nothing crazy IMO. I also hit this outdoors, but could see how an indoor setting might make it annoying. Hits off of center are much much quieter.
  • Really impressed by stock shaft offerings.
    • TOUR - Great launch, but was losing everything a bit to the right.
    • ALTA - Consistent, smooth, high launch.
    • Rogue - Not for me, struggled to get ball in the air.
    • Tensei 65 - Great feel, mid launch, didnt go left.
    • Tensei 55 - Great feel, higher launch, lost a few left (pull).

I really felt as if I could do no wrong with this thing. My miss tends to be low on face, and closer to the toe. Max was extremely stable, and had great ball flight even when way off the mark. Coming from a Cobra Speedzone with Ventus Blue, this is a huge upgrade! Like night and day.

Placed order for Max with 9 degree head, set to 10*, with Tensei 55 Stiff, as it really produced a beautiful flight. Will try and follow up with some launch numbers.

Will you try it with your Ventus Blue? That shaft gets great reviews. Should be almost impossible to miss the fairway with the Ventus Blue and G425 Max combo.

Please do! I'm considering a 425 Max / Tensei Orange 65X combo, and want to play around in the launch monitor this winter with that against my 410LST, swapping Tensei and my current Velocore Blue 6S in all combos to see what "wins." Would love to hear someone else test the 425 Max/Ventus Blue combo.

I had a 7x in my SIM!  The Ventus was close, but the feel was better with the Oban and the numbers were better across the board. Not by a ton, but it spun a little less, launched a little lower, and got me like 0.2mph ball speed. Not enough for any one thing to put it over the top, but you put them all together and it was a no brainer.  The price difference didn’t hurt either since I had to buy 4 of them

Let us know how it works out!

Sounds like the Alta was the winner??

I can't stop thinking of the feeling of the stock TourX in my friends 410 Plus. Could be that "honeymoon" feeling, but that thing felt stable, smooth, supple, and responsive, neither boardy nor sloppy. Don't sleep on Ping's stock in-house shafts!

Actually went with Tensei, but it was really close. Just came to feel, and I prefer the look of Tensei too.

I’ve ordered a Ping G425 MAX 9* with the Tensei. Asked Ping to add hot melt but leave the swing weight at stock D3. Rep is waiting for confirmation to see if they’ll do it. Also asked them for a head that sits open. Think they’ll do it?

Loving the new 425.

G425 Lst, 10.5, Graphite Design Tour AD HD Shaft, 5S

G425 3 Wood, Max, Graphite Design Tour AD HD Shaft, 6S

G425 3 Hybrid, Ventus Hybrid Blue, Regular

3 wood, 3 hybrid really hot off the face, making up some distance and accuracy I haven't had in a long time. Still tinkering (different weights, different lofts) with the driver, not as comfortable with it yet, but so far so damn good. And NO hotmelt!

Yes, as long as you paid for loft/lie but hot melt is free.

I am a fool!! I preordered a Ping 425 driver with all STANDARD specs and stock shaft the first day preorder was open. Now the exact drivers are abundant and plenty on Golf Galaxy floor, and I still have no news of my order.

Just cancel it and go buy what you want

My irons and FW wood is out for delivery today. Ordered the irons 4-UW standard L/L/L, but did order with Nippon Modus hafts and midsized grips. FW wood was standard Alta Slate CB shaft and midsize grips.

None of the above held up the order. I’ve had grips hold up an order before for a couple weeks.

I preordered at TGW and it went to backordered. I cancelled that order and went to my local Edwinn Watts yesterday at lunch and picked up a G425 MAX 10.5 with Tensei 65s for the same price.

My rep got back to me and not an issue.  Just asked where I wanted the hotmelt added.  Told them to place it in the center.  Just want to deaden the sound a bit.

Maybe pick up a Tour shaft and see if that makes a difference in the G400?

Interesting, interesting...

Well at least one certain benefit of the G425 release is that G410 set up with stock tour shaft is going to be cheaper. And it's really not right to skip a generation... So.... both? All three? Why not? Haven't spent money on anything in a year of going crazy in my house! Let's do this!
