@leezer99 . Help me understand what you are saying. My thought is that getting fit while his swing is whacky Could almost reinforce his current (but hopefully temporary) swing. I realiZe it will never be perfect, but getting the swing in line first has always made sense for me. I don’t even know if we get a new club- the same old story “is 5 extra yards worth $400? - no!...20 ..hmmm?‍♂️“.

unless he swinging 85 you won't see 20. We did a fitting not so much to change drivers because like you not worth the extra $500+ and in our case the driver she was fit in was better by a little more not a lot. Good data and was a fun experience to have and got to get on a trackman but you won't see 20 yards unless the speed is there. Under 85 I don't care what OEM they swing they go all about the same distance. Each driver she hit the numbers were very close to each other. That all being said I do recommend doing a fitting it has valuable information assuming the cost isn't very high.

He's young and will figure it out. Better to figure it out with what you are going to use more long term. 'Fix' a swing with one piece of equipment and then changing to another, in my opinion, will only create a scenario where he'll need to fix his swing twice.

There's even an epic flash on callaway preowned for $185 that might work.

Gotcha. Good Points, thanks for clarifying. Yeah, he will figure it out. Not worried about that. As you know, growing at their rate it seems like they go through a few swing readjustments each year. We played a two day this past weekend and he mostly has it back now just from playing three days in a row. He hits it far enough to compete so it’s not a huge priority , but after three years (he did upsize shaft) I am curious to see, plus you know how it is getting the itch for something new! @darter79 , the fitting experience alone will be helpful. I want to be done with trial and error on building drivers, haha. That’s an expensive rabbit hole , and now that he is (nearly) tall enough for a proper fitting it’s worth the $ to have a professional fit him and see for sure. Making appointment for next week probably.

Did you guys just cut down the recoil shafts? If your kid started using that at 6 or 7 it had to be cut down?

Yes, just cut it from the butt end. Get the finished club length to USKG spec or 2” longer (some kids play the next size up driver which is 2” longer).
