Tampa, FL area ClubCorp Courses

Hi all. I am going to be in Tampa for work in late Feb. As part of our work trip, we are playing Bayou Golf Club in Largo. I am going to go in a day early and can play one more round.

I am a ClubCorp ONE guy, so here are my choices:

Country Side Country Club - Clearwater

East Lake Woodlands Country Club - Oldsmar

Hunter's Green Country Club - Tampa

Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club - Tampa

 

Does anyone have any insight on these courses? Is there another MUST PLAY in the area that trumps these?

I appreciate any guidance.

I'm a club corp member too. Countryside was nice .....so was Tampa Palms . I played both last winter when I was down there. Both where relatively empty when I played at 9:30. I haven't played the others yet. Going down the end of Feb/March. I'm also partial to Dunedin GC

TP by far the best Club Corp in Tampa.

I live in Wesley Chapel, about 20 miles north of downtown Tampa. I've played Tampa Palms and concur with what other posters have said. Hunters Green is supposed to be very nice, but I have not played.

If you are looking near Tampa Palms or Hunters Green, you want to check out Saddlebrook. 2 different 18-hole courses, and probably the best practice facility in the area.

I'm a member at East Lake Woodlands and live on the North Course. Played all of them many times obviously so I can give you a short description of them all.

 

Countryside CC - They have 27 holes and I have never liked the courses there. Conditions are always questionable to me. Food in clubhouse is good. I would rate it last of the club corp courses in the area.

Tampa Palms - VERY difficult course. The fairways slope off on either side with little rough then straight into the scrub bushes. It is a great layout.

Hunters Green - I think this course is T1 for the area. The layout is great and course conditions are always good.

East Lake Woodlands South - We have 36 and this is the least favorite of the membership. Course is always in good shape and the greens are some of the fastest you will see around. It routes back to the clubhouse after 9 holes. No holes run parallel to each other so no worry of getting hit.

East Lake Woodlands North - This is the other T1 of the courses in the area, maybe just a shade better. Course runs through marsh, water and nice houses. It is quite difficult depending on tee. From the blue tees at around 6,300 yards it has a slope of 141. No holes run parallel here either. Just a great challenge overall and great scenery.

So my order of play would be:

East Lake North

Hunters Green

Tampa Palms

East Lake South

Countryside (any 18 hole combo)

Countryside is closer to where I am staying; but I am trusting the WRX folks. Glad I asked.

I played Hunters Green two years ago. It's fine, but not amazing. Some solid holes and it was in decent shape.

Won't be the best course you play in 2020, but certainly worth the cart fee.
