Hard not to enjoy the feel of Toulon putters. Can’t comment on SC as I stopped supporting his retail putters years ago.

it helps Cameron went away from inserts this release! As a lefty not having a Newport in like a decade makes it hard to keep wanting NP2. The Toulon Austin shape wise is better than Cameron’s retail N

I may prefer the Toulon, I found the Scotty really jumpy off the face. It may have something to do with the amount of mass taken out of the cavity on the Scotty but the ball just took off from the Scotty. I like the roll on the Toulon and I really love that face milling. I also prefer the size of the San Diego over the NP2, it's a touch bigger but suits my eye better.

Honestly I could play either, both are quality, you can scoop up some Toulon's for cheap via CPO, Scotty's hold value better. If I was fitted into either the Toulon or Scotty I wouldn't complain.

To me, Toulon putters have a more meaty "thud" while the new SC is a nice crisp click.

This might be because I have a heavier sole plate installed in my Toulon Austin, which brings the weight up to like 365 or so. I don't know if it's my imagination, but the putter face felt more solid when I increased the weight. And I should also note that I'm using the older, pre-Stroke Lab model.

They both feel great. I go back and forth on whether I think the Toulon feels better than the Bettinardi FIT Face'd putter I have.

I'm not a SC fanboy (I really didn't want to get fitted into one!) but you definitely need to give the new Special Selects a roll. Getting rid of the insert has made them MUCH better than the previous OTR ones.

I just did a SAM fitting last week at Club Champion and despite my best efforts to find something other than SC the new Special Select Fastback 1.5 was the pretty clear winner for me. I like what I would describe as a nice firm "click" off the putter and these new ones were great (the new Squareback 2 also was one of the finalists).

Now as somebody who fits into a mid-mallet with a good amount (30-45 deg) of toe hang I don't have a ton of options, but was still rolling Toulon, Bettis and PXG in the final group with the SCs and the SCs just kept winning out (final cut was the Fastback over the Squareback).

I putted with both this past Saturday. Both are really nice feeling and both look amazing but I would give a slight nod to Toulon. For me the dark finish on the Toulon is preferred and the shape of the San Diego was slightly better than the Newport 2 in my opinion. That being said, I didn't buy either putter, I walked out with an Evnroll spaceship instead. It's all about making putts right?

I picked the SC Special Select over Toulon based off of the feel, not the sound. The SC felt more balanced to me and looked better behind a ball. The sound of the SC was a little different than what I was used too but it doesn't bother me now. I tried both before I pulled the trigger and then I went back to the store after playing the SC for a few days and tried them side by side again and I don't have any regrets on my purchase.

Toulon San Diego for me. Prefer the feel and sound over the new SC line. I will say that the Special is a high upgrade over previous models and feels much more solid like the 2013 (?) Select line that had no insert.
