Identify old persimmon fairway A&F brand ?

Recommended Posts

found this today along with a couple Powerbilt Citations, Driver and 3 wood.

there was a matching driver but the condition was poor, like someone belted it into a rock so I left that one.

the finish is black with a two color vertical black and ivory color insert. top says Tournament.

the only logo is on the bottom plate. Capital letters A and F and between them is either the & or something similar.

below that says Custom-Built.

serial is 143C. plasticized type cover where whipping would be.

leather wrapped grip that has some nice tooling with end cap. True Temper Century shaft.

sole has some discoloration near the shaft bore thru but otherwise in nice condition.

the three woods and a set of Lynx Master Model irons were my score today.

appreciate your help.

as Henry Higgins would say, " I think he's got it " thanks deejaid !

They had shirtless twinks selling them at pro shops all over the northeast.

There's a driver matching that description at one of the local thrift shops around here...well, it's not black, it's dyed or stained red. But, the baseplate does say "TOURNAMENT A&F CUSTOM BUILT," which I took to mean it was probably a kit build from back in the day.

Abercrombie & Fitch perhaps? While now a clothing retailer aimed at teens and 20-something’s, Abercrombie & Fitch was started in 1894 and were known for high end outdoor equipment like shotguns, fishing rods, and tents. Perhaps they dabbled in golf clubs for a bit? Without seeing pics and hearing it has a True Temper Century shaft I’d guess 1950’s vintage.

The bag...
Orlimar persimmon driver
Orlimar Diamond laminate 3,4 woods
Hogan Medallion 3-Equalizer

Wilson 3-D Triple Duty wedge

Rife Legend Z putter
