Ping i59

I played new Prov1.  I actually went back to the range to test the club again. Something was bothering me.  Ping totally f*cked this club up.  The look at address gave me a headache.   I don't know why but the whole issue with the grooves across the face, they stop short on the club face.  Look at it when you can and compare to other clubs.  I'll try to take pic next time but go look for yourselves.  Its totally bizarre actually.  Theres a large blank area on the club face, right side,  the way they made this iron.  Strange.   No way would I considering buying this club.  They're disappointing and weird.

first the pings are softer than the T100’s, now the face is bizarre. Are you sure you didn’t eat any mushrooms this morning? 🧐

Just played a round with an iron of i59 & T100.  They're both nice, Ping going to sell a lot of them along with Titleist, but for me, didn't feel as good as a mizuno.  Both clean looking.  I didn't like how the groove's on i59 didn't extend more across the face of the club either.  Its weird, you have to look at it.  At one point I was thinking what did Ping do here?   I wasn't getting any more distance nor did I find dispersion to be any better than my current Mizzy's.  I also had the T100 which I thought was nice but not a game changer either.  If I had to choose between the two I'd probably go i59 because it did have a softer feel than T100 which I liked but not enough for me to change.   If new clubs aren't significantly better in feel/look at address and distance for me its a no go.  Nice clubs though, no knocks.

It's pretty noticeable that the face pattern doesn't go all the way to the toe. If I had to guess, they didn't the COG in the middle of the face and this is a bandaid. If I was to replace my i210s with something smaller, od put the t100s over the i59s.

Not sure what you are saying here...they messed up the cog so they shortened the grooves toward the toe as a bandaid? Are you saying they messed up the cog and instead of fixing it, they decided to make short grooves towards the toe hoping to fix it later? Just trying to understand what you mean about bandaid...

Theres a huge gap from where the grooves end to the toe.  Someone please take pics and post here to clear this up.  Put it side by side other clubs and you'll see.   It looks weird.

Huge is an overstatement. It's a slight difference. It's there to help the player focus on the middle of the clubface:

There are/have been plenty of address pics on here for months. Almost everyone thinking about buying these knows what they look like.  It's not like you're the first person to see these top secret clubs.

I know its all subjective but I thought the i59 is definitely softer than the T100 as well. I own the 2021 Titleist so I know what they feel like.

I've hit quite a lot of Titleist irons in 35yrs. They have a certain feel to them like no other......its in my head. Doesn't matter which titlesist iron I try- that feel is ever present to me.

Yeah, I remember when the rumors of these irons started circulating someone said "Ping is going to release the end-all, be-all of irons this year." Not to go too far astray, but maybe the mixed reviews speak to the fact that there is only so much you can do with iron technology? I mean, it's not going to swing the club for you and deliver it in a perfect impact position every time, or be like a rocket launcher you just aim and pull the trigger on and land the ball right next to the hole.  You still gotta swing the club. I think that's why there a fair number of pros with older irons in the bag. Still, if you were just getting into the market and wanting a sexy, high performing player's club, this one sounds legit.

Totally, i think the issue thou is - are they actually better than the iBlade/i210 aside from looks.

Good question. Sounds like any improvement would be marginal. For me, not the greatest iron striker in the world, I just don't see how they can be as or more forgiving than my i200s throughout the set, and I think the experience and comfort with the i200 offers more of an advantage over any improvements in looks or feel, meaning I (probably) won't buy these. But if I were a better iron striker and in the market for a new set of clubs that matched my improved ability (like a good high school player getting a set for college, or a good college player making improvements), sounds like these would be super high on the list.

Will be very curious to see the next iron in the i210 lineage tho...

I saw the same thing looking at the demo club at the course this weekend. The grooves and sand blasted face area didn’t go out as far on the toe as I expected. The pictures one here seem to be different from what I saw.

maybe it was an illusion or maybe the demo was different. I remember looking at my i210 and liking the shape/grooves/face sand blasting much better.

Visited my local golf store and hit a i59 7 iron demo with a AWT 2.0 shaft.  At address the head is smaller than I expected, fits into a players iron category, very clean thin top line with little offset.  Wonderful, non-clicky soft feel at impact.  Ping did a great job here.

I have read this has the MOI of the i210 but visually speaking, these look demanding.  Looking forward to trying these outside (4, 7 & PW) to see how they perform.

Saw these today and I was pretty surprised how big they are and how wide the sole is, somehow I thought they would be much sleeker looking.  Still a nice looking club and should be great for those who buy them.

Karma is truly a you know what. After years of complaining about Ping not making forged irons, they hear the feedback but charge fairway wood prices for a single iron.

Never have I wanted just an old school, ugly, bulletproof cast iron with a block of tungsten in the toe in true Ping fashion more than I do now.
