Ping i59

PING prices have gone up across the board, looks like. IMO, PING is worth a premium or at least market rate. The fact that many of their clubs were a bit less expensive for the last few years was a great buying opportunity.

Hit the fitting 7 iron today. Really liked it! Is it $2200 good? Prob not. But I would game them!

Good story below about product delays in entire industry. It’s a good problem to have! If you want to order something, do it, realize it’s going to be a long time because we are in unprecedented times and enjoy playing what you have for now!

 

Btw, this thread is as good as any place to post this story: hit my i200 4 iron from 225 with ball above my feet and trouble left to 12 feet today on 18 (which I made for eagle) to qualify for the Colorado State Mid-Am. I’ll probably stick with my i200s for a little bit! (Still think the i59s are awesome.)

As an aside, all the talk about the MOI values being a marketing ploy...thank goodness MOI isn't something you feel on a YouTube review and can actually be measured. Also, Ping have historically been the company that cares the least about marketing, so there's that too.

So I got to hit the demo head again, but this time I tried it with the recoil graphite option. This combo felt the best from a "softness" perspective. They didn't clean up the head before they hooked it up and there were ballmarks all over the face including the hosel. I had them clean it up so I could track my strikes, and really hit the middle of the face consistently. That being said, it felt like I had to try harder then with my 210s. If they are the same moi, then the bigger head of the 210 makes a difference mentally. They felt great with graphite and I would say I would be leaning towards buying them now as opposed to when I first hit them with the dg120s.

i59s now $2,350 here in Canada for 4-PW. I'm definitely out! Was told ALL equipment will have price increases and Q1 there will be a ball shortage. Best stock up guys!?

I've been a huge Ping fan for over 30 years. Probably played their stuff for 25 of those years. But if I can buy PXG or Miura for the same price or close to it, I'll go another route besides Ping for irons.

If there's anything most long-time golfers are prepared for it would be a ball shortage.

Go check the PXG site...Cheaper and you'll have their Gen4 items within a week, not 6 months...

Oh, I get it. But I can buy Gen 3 0311P's for $139 a club. I don't have to have current year clubs. It's a waste of money in my opinion. And I haven't heard anybody that has tested the I59's say they just HAD to have them. And since I just got done reshafting my 714AP2's today they might stay another year in the bag.

PXG is considerably more affordable than Ping now…faster turnaround time too.

What’s the reasoning behind the ball shortage? Q1 is winter where nearly half the US isn’t playing golf at that time.

Just an FYI .....its still more expensive to buy those irons with my upgrade shaft than i59 with the same shaft. Muira hits me $80 & PXG doesn't even offer

There is already a ball shortage. I work in a proshop and all we can get our hands on are tour balls at the moment

Talked to an insurance agent yesterday and he’s expecting a 20 percent increase in insurance prices.  Sure seems like this is all planned to hurt the middle class but I’m told that I’m just a conspiracy theorist.

There may be a few reasons a golf course pro shop doesn't get an allotment of balls.  First might be an accounts payable problem.  Or maybe they've hit their credit limit.  

Because it's a shortage at one doesn't mean it's a universal shortage.

Work at a big golf store. There is an industry wide shortage.
