2020 Ping Moonlite or Jones Original

Recommended Posts

Moonlite has a....half spine? It runs to about the midway point in the bag, and the remainder is soft. Honestly, you don't notice that at all once you have clubs in the bag, as they sort of act as the spine. That said, I've been a moonlite user for a few years, having a few different iterations of the bag, and I'll say that this current version is the best they've made. It's light (like always), they've added a 4-way top, and a new material that feels like it'll be extremely durable. They've made some additions where they were sorely needed (a ring to clip towels, rangefinder cases, etc.) and also expanded the main pocket enough that you could easily fit some gear in there if you needed to.

I'm obviously a bit biased and can only speak to one of the bags, but I think that the Ping is a great way to go, and I'm sure you wouldn't regret it.

Jones. I have the original and players and I prefer the original. The single strap super comfortable and easy to carry. I never get the dual straps to fit perfect but with the single you don’t have that problem at all

get the jones you definitely won’t regret it. And any color goes with the black headcovers but I’d go green

VEEFF963LTJV.jpegI got the new 2020 moo lite today and it is a very good bag. The new 4 way top is what made me go for the bag and it makes club management much easier. Also has a mesh range finder holder, water bottle holder and 2 other pockets. The under side of the bag seems very durable and waterproof. It also has 2 full length dividers.

There is a HAWAIIAN moonlite? DAAAMN

I use a Hoofer, a Jones Original, and now a Vessel Sunday Bag.

I also have 3 different versions of the Moonlite and all are excellent bags. From what I see they made some huge improvements that make me want to ditch everything for one of those.

New this year! It looks even better in person! Kind of a weird material this year compared to years past, but it seems like it'll be way more durable, and maybe a little more water resistant around the pockets. The belly of the bag is still the same waterproof stuff as previous models.

Don’t you own a Vessel as well. I’m starting to fall in the trap of liking features from different bags, but not one bag with all the features.

I love the dedicated rangefinder pocket on the Vessel/Asher and some Titleist bags. I don’t love the idea of clipping the case and unzipping it every time I need it. Haven’t seen a great solution for the rangefinder on bags like Jones or Shapland. I don’t love the mesh pocket on the Moonlite.

I’m torn on stand verse no stand. I have a bad back and really don’t want to put the clubs down in mud or puddles, but so many stand bags get poor reviews for unstable or droopy legs. I like the idea of trestle sticks, but would I feel like a tool using them?

All the Sun Mountains are out because I don’t trust the thin materials. And, most of their new bags look bloated.

it took me ten minutes to pick my irons. I feel like it’s going to take ten weeks to pick a bag. Haha.

Agree, great looking bag. I still play the MG wedge and played the TE irons for a few years. They are sweet feeling irons.

I am leaning towards the moonlight bc if the 4 dividers - and the price point compared to the Jones original.

HOWEVER... the TM quiver bag has those legs to prevent the bag from laying flat against the ground. That is a big deal for me. And 3 dividers isn’t a bad mix at all.

Im torn. Can’t decide. Help!

I just picked up a used Moonlite for a song to try out. I've used basically every Sunday bag known to man, and I am so far very impressed. I like how the strap stand up when the bag is laid down for easier picking up. I only carry 9 clubs, and zero issues with space. Balls, tees, rangefinder in the pockets. water bottle sleeve on the outside. I will likely remove the second strap, as I'm not a big fan of the dual strap. I will probably be upgrading to the 2020 model (I think mine is a 2015). That Tropic print is calling my name!

Having owned the previous Moonlite and currently a Jones Stripeshow, I highly prefer the Jones. The Stripeshow is basically an Original but made with an awesome leather like vinyl that’s really easy to wipe clean. In addition to black and white, they just released navy and gray in this material.

It’s hard to beat the looks of the Jones. In fact, I will often throw my Jones on a cart when riding instead of transferring my clubs to a bigger bag. I wouldn’t think about this in a million years with my old Moonlite. The Jones just feels like a complete bag instead of a small carry only bag. The big single strap also makes for a very comfortable walk.
