It's a great win for HYP! I didn't know who to cheer for. HYP, SYR, and NYC were the three players i really liked watching when I started playing golf again in the early part of the last decade.

It will be interesting to see if SYR has a good first half of the season. Her time in the top tier of players was probably coming to an end anyways (regardless of any lifestyle/focus changes) but can she make 1 more run and qualify for Tokyo? I think she was quite sad to missout in 2016 (was top 4 until late in the process I believe), and this is probably it for her chances. I thought she got lucky on Sat with the earlier tee time but then played well in tough conditions on Sunday so I'm not sure what to think (Inbee also had one good tournament and then hasn't done much).

@agolf1

Paula Creamer, So Yeon Ryu and Na Yeon Choi and Inbee Park won US Women's Open to kick off the 2010 decade; what a group of winners!
Here we're;10 years later and fortunately they're still all here.
Who'll win to kick off the US Women's Open for 2020 decade; that's a good question!
Hopefully, USGA will raise USWO's purse to $6.0 million this year. It took a long time for PGA Tour to reach $6.0 million and then it took off; they'll play for $15.0 million this year at the Players.

So Yeon spends time in Texas. I assume playing in the windy conditions there had some part in her solid play.

Really enjoyed watching windy golf..

I really think the wind brought another factor to the game and made it interesting and fun to watch.

Congrats to Hee Young Park..

Glad to see So Yeon Ryu making a comeback..

As has been said, thru the day there were a number of ladies with one hand on the trophy. I picked up the final group on 7, not long after that Cho was hitting many loose shots and never recovered her swing. Best of luck to her I reckon it's just time and experience, although some more length might help.

Sagstrom made a remarkable birdie on the 9th, her drive puffed up into the fierce headwind and much to her surprise didnt carry a rise in the fairway roughly 200m from the tee, her playing partner Sharp was 40m over the rise. After a few chuckles at herself they worked out it was 215 meters to the flag so she pulls out driver again and off the slight upslope flies it 210 off the deck to maybe 12ft..with that wind, wow. She made birdie there and a very classy up and down par save on 10 leaving me thinking she was the player most likely. I left them then to watch the SYR group approach the 13th green and drive on the 14th so i missed Sagstroms's blow up on 12. I guess whatever was going on to put her 4 over after her first 6 holes returned, shame because she is quite entertaining to watch.

It was intense watching SYR and Park play the final four holes. Even Minjee as well who had her chances, all the way to 18 where she needed eagle but drew a scrubby downhill lie for her second and couldn't make the chip to join what would be the playoff at -8. The two shot swing between SYR and Park on 17 was huge. SYR had a dirty lipout on the 7th so when her ball did a lap then dropped in it seemed like just rewards and that my prediction to her on Thursday that this year she'd get back on top would start here and now. 2 minutes later it couldn't have changed more. Hats off to Park who on the 18th tee gave SYR a genuine congratulations for her birdie.

Everyone knows the rest so I'll just say that by lpga standards the field and purse might be weak, but as an experience for someone who watches a bit of the girls during the year on the tv screen it's been great and I hope they all come back next year. I hung around for the presentations and they insisted on spraying the champaign even tho it's cold, windy as he'll and pretty bloody late. All involved seemed to enjoy it tho so good on em, but I don't get it.

As the announcers mentioned, it had been over 2000 days since Hee Young's last win. Also, she had to go to Q Series to keep her card after 13 years on tour, and the win guarantees her another few years. I think a little bubbly was in order.

Yeah! It's so exciting. Loved when she took the drink out of the bottle at the end!

It's very true, seeing So Yeon's look of just dismay after being knocked out was a punch to the gut. Would never ever want anything like that for her. And there's the Olympics to worry about again (honestly I'd about rather not).

And gotta feel for Choi with the pine-cone lie of doom, and Cho going from a decent lead to a very very bad day, she must have been crushed after. Hopefully they've got good support.

But man ... two of the big stories of 2019, for me at least, was: 1. worrying about Hee Young's status and 2. wanna see more So Yeon. It was a tough year for both of them. So this tourney was great, couldn't be happier to see them both contending. And So Yeon will be back.

When Hee Young was talking about really thinking of quitting... wanted to verbally shake her and say you'd be missed! So glad she took the chance and went.

Could the Hero World Challenge be a mixed gender event as well? Say invite the 5 major winners and the top 5 players outside of that. Or make it a field of 18 women same as the men.

If it's a secret PGA Tour players guys club party, then I can see not doing it. But I imagine there's enough room in the Bahamas for the ladies to go off and do their own thing.
