Ball Speed and Smash Factor

Been hitting on GC QUAD all winter and made a major trip change to completely weaken my right hand and get rid of the power snap hook. It’s been wonderful but reviewing some #’s of good looking shots I’ve noticed the smash factor isn’t where it needs to be.

in the next message I’ll see if I can figure out how to post the results.

GCQuad measures club head speed differently and at different point in swing vs Trackman. GCQ may err on the side of giving you an extra mph whereas TM tends to read a hair slower. So same swing you'll get a slightly lower smash factor on GCQ and a little higher smash on TM. Optimal smash on TM 1.50 and GCQ closer to 1.45.

I simplified the numbers bc I don't know the specific testing truth, but I'm close.

That being said .... you didn't middle that shot ... a few mm heel side and low .... turns your 1.45 into 1.43 right quick.

Oh and BTW - you didn't really carry that shot 304 yards with 166 ballspeed. GCQ has a woody for sub 2000 spin rates.

Editorial: both systems are not without minor flaws like I mentioned but if indoors stick with GCQ ... TM can't read sidespin and gives it an educated guess based on club delivery info and initial ball readings. If you have 30 yards of flight radar based LM's are best in the biz.

Thanks for that info, I just took 10 swings in a row...I didn’t save “10 best” or anything like that which is why there’s not one middled in that entire bunch. I’ve been hitting all my clubs slightly inside all off-season.

any criticism of my spin rate etc? I game the m5 tour with a tour ad-gp 7x shaft.

You are, more often than not, low heel. M5 doesn't like low heel. Most drivers don't.

Grip change still settling in ? Now changes shaft timing needs ? No idea.

I know a fitter who knows my swing (my misses) and he can really play ... he takes out variables with tweaks and talks me off the ledge when I can't get out of my own way.

I think your spin drops when you do hit it higher on the face - you do hit up quite a bit and that drop is a bit too much (sub 2000)

@jsuder looking at the average numbers you are averaging 10 mm towards the heel. That's definitely going to impact your smash factor.
Also, if you look at the variance on your spin numbers you can see that you have quite a large variance. Several very low spin ones and also several very high.
My internet armchair diagnosis is that you still haven't grooved the swing change, but you're getting there.
