New Tiger Woods Launch Monitor

Recommended Posts

Just arrived.

Packaging is great.

Immediately, I am incredibly impressed by the build quality—this thing is substantial. All metal housing and heavy (but definitely not cumbersome to travel with you)

Won’t be able to fire it up til Sunday. Maybe I should ask FS to extend my 15 days, but I am confident this is going to work for me based on what others are saying here.

I am looking for a personal LM that has the following characteristics:

1. EASY to set up ( I have owned Mevo(non-plus), Rapsodo and found both non-user friendly) I just want to press a button, put it down and start working.

2. Outdoor only. In other words, I do not have an indoor setup and do not desire to have one (sort of) I live in SoCal and can get to the range most days of the year.

anyone brought it out on the course with them?

3. Very good accuracy. I want to be able to really dial in my distance gaps and practice this swings/feels with reasonable feedback. Would be most interested in my gapping from say 120-40 yards. Also would want to use to work on my swing mechanics (I.e. path, attack angle, face angle…)

interested in my dispersion patterns through the bag.

4. Easy data retrieval—in other words want to be able to get home, open the app and easily derive my distances, data etc.

5. High quality build

Does the FSK hit all these marks? Seems like it.

What range in Socal do you hit at?! I also want to hit at a range with premium balls where I can get true numbers and not have to worry about range balls (quality and limited flight balls).

If you're not gapping your distances with premium balls (preferably the one you play) and not limited flight range balls, or the range balls you find in 99% of ranges, are you really gapping?

I have not noticed any accuracy issues with my unit, but have uncovered a couple bugs here and there. The carry distance it reads is always accurate and I have only had a few no reads. I have noticed if I am too close to another person on the range, it will start to read out their balls too!

FS dev support has been super responsive to me and worked with me to reproduce errors. The unit just released to consumers, and anyone who knows dev can tell you that you simply cannot plan for all contingencies until users actually get the product.

They promised me their first major firmware update is coming in January that addresses some bugs and adds features based on the first few months of consumers actually having the unit.

Finally got to the range for my first Full Swing Kit session.  I am impressed! The setup was everything I hoped for--super easy, no messing with GPS coordinates. Turn it on, pair, properly place and go--we're talking 20-30 seconds.

I love the display on the actual unit. Very clear and easy to read even from 10 feet away. No need to look at your phone or iPad if you don't want to. The data shows up very quickly.

As far as the club data, it seemed to accurately reflect what I was doing. I severely closed the face, opened the face, messed with my path and attack angle, etc. and I'd say there were no surprises. Would also say in terms of ball flight/ball data the numbers were spot on--hit one high left, high right, etc--all the numbers seemed good. Nothing wonky.

Distance--seemed fine, but I'm going to need more time. This was a quick session, it was 48 degrees out (that's very cold where I'm from!) and I have not hit a golf ball in 2 weeks.

Overall, very happy with the FSK. It can only get be better with all the expected firmware updates...

How does the size compare to a track man, any idea. I had a bad habit of walking in front of the track man and interrupting the in flight performance. Notice anything like that?

It is smaller. I want to say half the width of a trackman. About the same height...

I did not notice a problem interrupting the flight performance.

Thanks, I’m juggling the idea of full swing or gc3. The damn mgs review of the full swing made me second guess but I personally like radar systems more. Keep us in the know on how you like the FS. Thanks.

Me too. That review makes me holding on. Cant believe the result was so far off from hi-end  peers.

I’m sure everyone is concerned about the diff as reported by mgs. But someone earlier had a point, what do you expect for a device costing a fraction of Gcq4 or TM? Even I’m not sure what I would compromise on or tolerate for that price vs $20k+. If we’re all about using data I’m assuming we’d like it to be accurate but maybe in this case we need to approximate? Like directionally correct or consistently known %age delta?

I like hogan’s checklist and sounds much like what I want too. Tempted to bite the bullet and then do my own comparisons with the private clubs’ tm so I can get baseline deltas.

Right. But it's too far off. Spin number like two times. That means mevo+ is a lot better.

I can tell you just in one session that the spin numbers are not two times. Not even close.

I think mgs sometimes is focused on finding the negatives rather then targeting the audience. My ultimate goal is an affordable sim, and I really don’t want to deal with club stickers. With TWoods behind this product and the sim market blowing up, I’m sure a firmware will address most issues with calculations. Looking forward to see how this FS evolves.

FSK said they have firmware update(s) to address the current issue(s). I'm waiting to see if their updates actually work and are released in a timely fashion. I'm ok working through kinks as long as I know the developers are still actively working to sort through the issues. From the pictures and reviews, I really like this device. The setup, UI, physical size, and capabilities shows a lot of promise.

Had a great session with the FSK today. All short game with my 54 and 58.

Used my Bushnell Laser Rangefinder to compare distances. Was hitting shots in a 40-70 yd range. The FSK was spot on with carry distance. Had it in a few spots where the ground was a bit uneven—no issues.

Super impressed.

Are you saying there is currently a firmware upgrade available?

No. Sorry for the confusion. I am going by what FS has said and what has been posted in this thread and mentioned elsewhere that an update is supposed to be released sometime early 2022 to address a few issues.
