New Tiger Woods Launch Monitor

Recommended Posts

Also noticed that e6 doesn't have angle of attack as one of the values that it displays in their app. You can't see the 16 data points on the KIT when you're connected to e6 so unfortunately at their mercy for that. You can obviously disconnect the e6 to use the Fullswing App but then can't see the ball flight.

Overall, still impressed with accuracy (from what I can tell) and the easy integration.

I've only used it indoors with a net so far so can't compare to outside use or anything.

Just wanted to give everyone feedback on 1.15. I spent about 2 hours on the range with it and I have to say that the Kit is becoming more and stable with great results. Carry distance was dead on. More importantly, path and face to path have become very consistent and I no longer get weird results on some shots. I can't be happier with the purchase - it keeps getting better with every release. My pro (one hour of the time was a lesson) was also really impressed and said the numbers make sense given what he saw in my swing (we have previously compared to a flightscope).

Have not had time to hook up to E6 yet, most of my free time is spent getting my hitting room ready, but I still have it on the net at home. The screen update seems to have tightened things up pretty well. I am able to have a net set up full time with tape marks on the ground for quick set up and my swing is getting pretty well grooved. Still a little uncomfortable hitting drivers on my current set up, nothing with FSK but everything to do with me concerned about hitting one of the crown into a skylight or rattling around my shop.

Last night I got an outdoor session and the particular range I was on has a downslope after about 100 yards. I was happy with the readings, but I think that you just need to keep in mind the shape of your range when you are using FSK outside. I.e. I am not sure where the monitor radar ends and it starts calculating, but it seems like about 220 out.  I was carrying my irons about 10 yards farther than normal, likely due to the fact it measured extra flight time as the ball dropped over the slope.

Then when I hit everything from 5 wood and up (230 avg) I would get accurate speeds/angles but carry and total distances showed large divergence. I.e. a low hard 5w would show 215 carry with 245 total. The total distance was right but the carry was more like 235 for that particular shot by eyeball due to the downslope of the range.  So something to think through when you set up outside is the shape of the range.

At first I thought I had magically become a beast averaging 185 with my 7i and then realized that the ball was floating a ways further than usual due to the slope.

Took mine out to my club's range for it's first voyage yesterday. As mentioned, really easy to set up and get going. From a performance perspective, carry numbers and spin were on point. Those were the only ones I really concentrated on as the most important stats this session. Total distance seemed wonky, but it's wonky with every launch monitor IMO, as the Texas fairways are firm and fast and seem to be understated in the amount of roll out we get at my club. Love the camera feature and the app functionality.

Welcome to the club. Totally agree that total distance is essentially useless information from a launch monitor.

I had a different experience. For context I'm in FL, our range has a grass hitting area and is relatively flat overall. We have Titleist practice balls, mostly in good shape.

My numbers from the FSK were odd. I hit a dozen PW's and was kind of weirded out by the results. Average spin was mid-4000s, average carry distance was 122 and average total distance was 145. I used Trackman indoors before I went out and had an average carry of 143, total distance 144.

Fwiw, I lasered the flag I was aiming at ahead of time to 139 yards. Each of my wedges carried the flag. I was most definitely not getting 23 yards of roll (except maybe that one i thinned 😉 )

Wondering if i messed up something in the settings? The total distance seemed spot on, but everything else seemed pretty useless. I will say the face/path stats did not populate on every shot which confused me a bit. When they did it supported my usual figures I've seen on TM. Peak height on FSK was a bit low (87' avg) versus my normal TM numbers (98' avg).

Hoping to get back out this week and try again with different clubs this time!

I get 4500-5000 spin with GW/PW with any range ball but as soon as I take my FSK out to a course and plop it down with a fresh ProV1X I will get my usually 8500-9300 spin with my wedges. Range balls just suck no matter if they appear in good shape. I had the same issue with some older prov1x practice balls where the spin and ball speed were lower than what I get on the course with fresh balls. Range balls take a beating.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I went back out for a much longer range session last weekend. Then went out on the course to play a few holes and see what (if anything) changed with real balls. 3 things to note:

1. Distances were MUCH better this time, even on the range. I realized it was intermittently overcast the last time I was out, so put the FSK in the shadow of my bag the whole time. Not sure this has a real effect on anything but definitely more reasonable carry dispersion. On course I didn’t bother with shading but it didn’t seem to matter. To J_Birdie’s point, a real ball had numbers much more in line than the range balls.

2. The face/path measurements appear pretty close if not dead-on. Not sure the precise level of accuracy, but it’s a big reason I picked the FSK > GC3 and I’m glad I did. Helped me tidy up what was an overly right path that I thought was an open clubface in 4-5 swings.

3. The software and UI is so good. I’ve seen complaints of the subscription cost, but cloud storage for all of the video isn’t cheap. To have that feedback on demand and to be able to line up the accompanying figures on my phone in real time is impressive and something I’m fine paying $100/yr for.

I’ve yet to use it indoors as that seems to be the primary place where folks are griping. Hopefully by the time my garage is redone they’ll have worked out the issues. In the meantime I’m going to enjoy it outdoors this summer!
