Went back and looked and I don't see that being the case. I know Florida, Atlanta, North Carolina, South Carolina, Canada, Carribean, DC, Dallas, Atlantic City, Cleveland, and Chicago are not on Reservations.

This thing keeps getting better and better.

A partnership with Hurricane Tour will end up being the kiss of death. I like the Hurricane Tour and the people that run it. They do a good job. Hurricane is just too expensive. A partnership makes sense, just not the Hurricane.

Good Question. Honestly, I don't know.

Without Covid-19 I think it would have been successful and a really fun event. It has thrown a huge wrench into every thing they have done. I would have delayed it a year because I know they have had a tough go at it.

I just signed my son up for a Hurricane event for the first time. Can't believe how expensive it is. The only reason I did it was because so many event he was going to play in have been cancelled. He hasn't played in one tournament this year and its a good idea to get one in before JGS starts back up again. Is IJGT operating anymore?

Yep. They take you for 3 bills for the tournament? Then a several hour drive and hotel.? Hurricane really does run a good tournament, just not sure it is worth that much.

I thought about it and just opted for US Kids stuff for the hold over.

I think IJGT is operating, they have just suspended all events.

This is a strange year for things. I could see why something does this and who knows it might be fun. It's not really something I am interested in.

As for HJGT you have to sign up for it at the end the year when they have membership discounts. I think it was around $200 but I can't remember the exact cost. Once your a member you save a ton of money if you book during the early bird window.

If you do those things the tournaments are a lot better when you compare them to other tours especially is there played at the better courses. If you just found out about HJGT it's a tough call unless you plan doing 4 or 5 tournaments I would wait until the end of the year to sign up. You can also call them I heard sometimes they give discounts on memberships and to some people if you ask for them. Not sure if it works but worth a shot.

I’m looking at doing one Hurricane event near me at Sea Island. Problem is right now there is only one girl signed up in the 13U age group. Hurricane struggles to get girls in that age group outside of Orlando. Orlando has all the academies so they tend to do better there. The people at Hurricane told me that themselves. I like their 13U distances because they are manageable for my daughter. Once you get past 12, they lump the girls from 13-18 together. That means the yardages are longer and favor the older girls. Just wish Hurricane wasn’t so expensive.

This tournament has become a scam.  Why are kids in the field that never qualified?  Why are 14 soon to be 15 year olds playing the 13 and under division? Anyone who is playing in the field, did you have to submit a birth certificate?

This is the only tournament where the age cutoff precedes the championship date by several months.

Also in our area, the regional was $300 to play a $5 muni course...  On a Tuesday and Wednesday.

The winner walked away with a hat.

I was aware of the age cutoff preceding the championship but I would love to know if they are checking birth certificates.  One player in the field  my son played at USKIDS worlds as a 12 year old in August of 2019.  My son recently turned 15.  The boy is playing in the 13 and under.  The math doesn't add up.

Not sure why golf tournaments that play divisions by age do not ask for Birth Certificates?  Not sure what the situation is in this case but  I'd say the majority of golf tournaments don't ask for age.

I wish more did you really have no chance if a kid is 15 and says he is 13.

I am not sure if I would call it a scam though. I haven't seen anything that says it is.

It starts to feel "scammy" when you have players in the field that have not played any qualifying events and all of a sudden turn up in the national field.  Meanwhile others have paid to play a local as well as regional qualifier and shot scores to justify being in a national level field.

Was there any exemptions into the field????? They should have announced that prior to qualifying .   If you suddenly have players showing up because they didn't qualify I would tend to agree that isn't well run at all.

There are Sponsor Exemptions into the field just like AJGA will do.  When Wilson is the corporate Sponsor, they want some kids playing their stuff.

I don't know about the national event, but at least for the Regional, kids could by-pass the local qualifier if they signed up for the Regional way in advance.

If you had a qualifying JGS ranking you could exempt from local qualifying as well.  They also took Native American's into the field as exempt players.
