In Ryder Cup years the American Captain, if they can play, usually gets in a few tournaments to be on the grounds evaluating potential team members. Davis Love did it a few years ago and same with Jim Furyk. Seems like there will be some Ryder Cup evaluation with what may be the two guys leading the way for the Americans.

Its his 500th career PGA Tour start. I think he wants to be in some groups where he can look at and talk to players who will likely play for him in the Ryder Cup. Strick is only qualified for one major (US Open) so he's not going to get many opportunities to play with the guys he will be in charge of this fall.

This is the first time 9 out of the top 10 in the world have played the same regular tour tournament since the 2007 Wachovia (now the Wells Fargo) where 10 out of 10 were there.

Just want to say, THANK YOU Tiger for making this a top tier tour event again. There were some dark years in the mid 2000s when Woods refused to play The Riv. Now, because of Woods’ involvement, it’s a fantastic field. It’s the only LA event on tour, and the celebrity/Hollywood vibe should’ve been obvious to the top players, home and abroad, from the jump.

LOL let's raise it to a 12 foot basket! Then short guys complaining they can't even make a layup. Makes no sense. If fact, if they kept courses short and super narrow, guys would lose their length advantage. Bring back Corey Pavin and Fred Funk! Longer courses just makes it suck even more for short knockers.

If I'm seeing this correctly, then Golf Channel's pregame starts tomorrow/Thu at 11am eastern time, then Golf Channel is showing featured groups starting at noon (not just PGA Tour Live). Then the real coverage starts at 2pm on both Thu/Fri.

Thu is the only day Golf Channel is doing the bonus featured group on their channel, since the Champions Tour will be covered early afternoon on Fri.

I was in East County San Diego last week and my folks course was still pretty firm, even with a little recent rain.

Expect firm and fast at Riviera, expect one of the big hitters to win.....
