Lightweight Stand Bags

Recommended Posts

You bring up a good point. I’m looking at the 2.5+ and k1-LO but do they have any problems on carts? I currently ride mostly but want to carry more. But if I’m playing with someone who rides, I’m likely to join them. Just making sure the bag is durable enough for straps sometimes.

Thanks.

i did notice the 2.5+ was a good 2 or 3” taller than the k1-LO and the Titleist carbon. Doesn’t really matter, just something I noticed.

Anyone know if ping weighs the bags with straps VS how other mfg’s weigh? I know some post bag weights without straps, just can’t remember whom. Looked at the hoofer lite last night and bag def didn’t feel 1.5 pounds heavier than the 3.5 sun mountain. Like the new colors as well.

They do not include the straps in my experience. For example, the 4 Series was advertised as 4.5 lbs but actual weight was just over 5 lbs. So just like every other company, weight seems to be just the bag itself.

My 2.5+ just arrived today and I’m pretty pleased. Good price on a 2019 from Dallas Golf (drop shipped from Sun Mountain). It’s very light and seems well constructed. I don’t understand the balance issues people have, but I’m never going to put a liter or more of water in it. I can feel the plastic from the top of the bag when carrying, but it’s not uncomfortable. I’ll have to see how it feels on 36 hole days.

Got some more handling time today during lunch break. The Callaway Hyperlite Zero is ruled out, due to a smaller top than all the others. The remainder of my time was spent kicking the tires on the 2.5+ and 3.5LS. The straps on the 2.5+ seem plenty padded and the bag does not have pocket grabbing by the stands- every 3.5 I picked up did it to the pockets on both sides of the bag.

FYI- Sun Mountain got back to me, and if you are curious about the EZ-Lite strap system for the lightweight bags you can request it on new bags or order as a replacement part. Only comes in black, but that's an option if you don't want the X-strap.

For me, I think I'm now settled on the 2.5+ in either solid navy or navy/cobalt.

Thanks on the ez fit strap info. Was going to reach out to them about how much they are. Looking at the royal blue/navy blue 2.5+. Vs the staff colored k1-Lo.

the top of the 2.5+ is winning over the mizuno for me so far. But damn, do i love those mizuno straps.

Just remember EZ-Fit= strap from the 4.5 LS

EZ-Lite= 4Plus, Eco-lite, and Collegiate strap.

I probably won't order until end of month once I get my work bonus, which should give me time to walk a few loops with my 4.5 to make sure it's actually worth it.

I've tried the EZ Lite on a Collegiate and hated it, the weight didn't seem to distribute correctly no matter how I adjusted it, probably due to the asymmetric design. IMO XStrap > EZ Fit > EZ Lite

I can see that, which is why I want to try the X on the course before making a decision on straps. I do have my EZ fit straps and they are so comfy that they almost make the 4.5 worth keeping as a single bag, but I don't think I've ever walked 18 with it.

I kind of wonder what SM would get if they took the 4.5 shell with it's 10 inch top, took a pocket away, and added carbon fiber legs. If you took that bag and used the X-Strap that could be an amazing carry bag probably under 4 pounds.

Sounds like the old Three 5 except for the carbon fiber legs. Weighs about 4.5 lbs. Can still get it here...https://www.tgw.com/golf-bags/golf-stand-bags/sun-mountain-2016-three-5-stand-bag

It was well made for sure. But the straps are the same as other bags (which for me is a big negative) and the opening is really small compared to the 2.5+ and k1-Lo. So if you can live with those, great bag. For me, it ruled itself out.

Vessel Lite looks great and I'm sure it's built well, but at that price and weight (4.2) it also has an 8" top.

For all the complaints about straps on bags, I think it's worth noting that most of these bags are using YKK 1" materials. You can order buckles, Tri-Glide loops, and nylon webbing off the interwebs and hack your way to a strap transplant.

I know there have been a few CEL bags posted here, but they seem to be a bit of a unicorn. My local PGA store doesn't have any info, online pics are all stock and I'm dying to try one out.

Anybody know whats going on? I remember the original SM 2.5 was introduced at the 201? PGA Show, won some kind of award, but didn't release til after the following PGA Show! Is the CEL real? ha

The vessel lite was it for me awhile back. The looks, straps and quality build had me all in. The 8” top worries the hell out of me with 14 clubs/midsize grips and and golfstick pro.

Lol. I’m naturally indecisive. I research everything i buy which is a blessing and a curse. I originally was looking for a CEL buy haven’t been able to find one in person. My fear is the top is too small much like the Titleist carbon, but i do not know that. It’s just not mentioned anywhere much like the carbon. When I compared the carbon with 2.5+ and k1-lo it’s definitely smaller than those 2.

Yeah, sorry. I weighed the 4-way, which means the14 way is probably 5 and change. Fwiw I weighed it without the rain hood, so probably safe to round up to 5.
