Lightweight Stand Bags

Recommended Posts

I just ordered Big Max Dri Lite Summit bag from Costco for $139.99 shipped. It is waterproof, has 14 full length dividers and weighs 14 lbs. The Big Max site lists the bag for $229.99 so maybe it is some form of a promo. The Summit bag looks like a replacement for their Hybrid bag.

I’ve gotten fed up with the horrible club tangle with my hoofer cel and am trying out a titleist players 4 now

lol, so you went from one tiny bag with club tangle to another in the titleist players 4 which will have club tangle. The top is very narrow on a players 4 and they aren't full length dividers.

For whatever reason so far I have much less club tangle in the players 4. I can actually pull clubs out with the legs deployed. Time will tell.

the cel doesn’t have true full length dividers either

As much as I wanted a Players 4, the dang legs always dangle while carrying so I went Hoofer Lite. Love it when carrying. I've found it has just enough space to carry what you need during 18.

If club tangle is a bother then only stand bag really is sun mountain to get around it.

100% agree. I had been away from SM bags for a few years, but getting back into the 2.5 is a great reminder of how good SM is at club tangle. Its non existent in the 2.5.

Just giving an update now that I’ve been using the ‘21 SM 3.5 LS for 5 mths now that I absolutely love this bag and it’s had everything I was looking for!

You guys may remember I went through a stretch in Feb/March where I bought/sold/returned around 11 different bags to try and find the right fit. The 3.5 LS was absolutely the right decision.

Lightweight, lots of pockets, comfortable straps, and my favourite part…NO club tangle!

Going to be using this one until something rips or breaks, but I’m guessing that won’t happen anytime soon…awesome bag!!

Just a heads up for a great light weight stand bag, the Vessel Lite is really good. Still feels light all loaded up, plenty of space, VERY minimal club tangle if any at all and looks great.  Not to be overlooked!!!

I am constantly surprised at the love for the Hoofer Lite here, I have tried it on multiple occasions and every time I am reminded of why I got rid of the last one.  And at 5 lbs, I wouldn't say it's in the light weight category.  Quality builds for sure though.

I feel like the TM Flextech bags, especially the new ones, are severely underrated.  Keep seeing them and can’t help but find them to be so nicely designed and minimalistic.  What does everyone think?

The first couple of generations were very Hoofer-like, except the build quality wasn't Hoofer-like.  Not sure about the 2021 versions.

Def less of the smart features of the Hoofer but yes similar design. Just really like the look of it and color options.  Also like the minimal branding, it’s not as in your face as titleist/ping/SM bags.

they are pretty nice looking and I agree with your sentiment. They have nice color options and just look sharp.  I hear a ton of great reviews.

My only gripe is (I believe) they still use the sliding x straps that I’m not a huge fan of personally.

As someone who doesn’t carry, primarily use push cart or ride, the straps to me are basically meaningless.  If I did carry then Hoofer or SM straps are obviously unmatched.  Strongly considering adding a Flextech to my collection.  Only question will be do I go regular or Lite.  I like the color options and look of the Lite better but the bigger top on the regular is probably more practical for my usage. Decisions decisions…

Anyone in here used or handled the sun mountain metro Sunday? From what I can see it has a 9” top but is super slim. Am I reading correctly it has zero full length dividers?

Owned one and sold it. It does not have full length dividers. Nice size to it, ultimately didn't do enough for me. The single strap wasn't very comfortable and it doesn't have a dedicated spot for a water bottle (have to put it in a zippered pocket).

2.5+ much better if you're walking.  Straps on 2.5+ are great and the 1 lb is a big deal to me

1lb saved= A "free" 16oz bottle of water. 2.5+ for sure. Straps can always be changed, too.

By chance I won a boatload of shop credit. Aside from replacement wedges, I have a lot to play with so I think I'm going to add another bag to the lineup and keep the SM 2.5+ as either a backup or primary carry bag.

The 2021 3.5LS seems like the best fit for now. The EZ-Lite straps are now default, and you get a sealed valuables pocket along with a tee pocket, laser pouch, and larger garment pocket.

This is a fun-money choice anyway, but after thinking about it a bit, I've pretty much added a pound to the 2.5+ to make up for those features. I use a carabiner laser pouch, carry a waterproof pouch for my valuables, and put on the EZ-Fit straps. Due to another mishap the bag now has standard legs on it instead of the carbon fiber legs that caught and snapped.

Anybody know if there were any improvements/changes for 2022 Sun Mountain 3.5? Debating whether to get the new version or go hunting for a deal on the 2021.

I'd be looking for a 2021 based on the straps.  I like the x-strap better than the new version.

What do you like better about the x-straps? I thought I read somewhere that the EZ lite straps were more comfortable.

I tried the Collegiate bag with the EZ Fit and it was difficult to get a good balance of the bag, I think it was the weird angle that the strap connects to the bottom apparel pocket side.  I've always liked the X-Strap vs other options, but it's personal preference.

Personally I felt the opposite as the other poster. I went for an Ecolite 3.5 just because I couldn't handle the x-straps and wanted EZ-lite. Happy with my choice.

I much prefer EX straps over X straps.  I have X on my H2NO and don’t really care for them.  They slide too much and don’t keep my bag where I want it to sit far too often
