Lightweight Stand Bags

Well Gentlemen, just came from the golf shop and spent a good hour +...took a hard look at every angle of the Srixon Z bag, Hoofer, Hoofer Lite, all Sun Mountain options etc.

 

Also looked at the push carts to see what the cost would be to change carts to fit different bags.

 

In the end, after all the buying and returning (7 bags), and all the trips to the golf shop, the best fit for me overall is the TM FlexTech Lite

 

If I wasn’t factoring in push carts and was making the decision strictly on carrying, then I would’ve gone with the ‘21 version of the SM 3.5LS or the SM 2.5+...but with the shape of the base being a factor, the FlexTech Lite checked the most boxes.

Thanks. Yeah, didn't know it was going to be so tough to find the right stand bag with versatility to fit on my cart, so glad to have it done and have the right fit!

Wait...the SM 2.5+ doesn’t fit on the click gear 3.5? I know if I’m going with the lighter bag why worry about the trolley but I’m Chicago I’m sure I’ll have days where it’s starts at 30 degrees and moves to 50. Would probably have extra clothing. 
 

anyone know if the SM 2020 h2no fits? 
 

still trying to decide between those two.

Love my “nickel” silver H2NO.  Where did you find one? 
Id be able to tell you but gave my clic gear to my dad as I started to carry.

Based on your suggestion, got a no logo at Carl’s. Got it today. My wife thinks I’m nuts as I’m sitting here with these bags. Packed up the 3.5ls. Either going 2.5+ light or h2no slightly heavier but still good at 5lbs

You may have gotten last one.  They don’t offer the color there anymore. Just the white and black ones.  You like? 
 

those were my 2 choices as well.  Decided on waterproof, ultimately

I’d go with whichever one fits on your cart best, unless you’re ready to commit to carrying 100% of the time...which is sounds like you won’t be.

 

That H2NO looks awesome though, and waterproof is a very appealing feature! I definitely haven’t seen any of those in any of the stores I’ve been in.

Both the 2.5+ and the h2no fit on a click gear 3.5+. Clearly won’t be as secure but I have it a good shack and unless I’m going over the large potholes we have in Chicago, I should be good.

Gotcha. Well, if they both fit then it just comes down to personal preference on layout, features, and what fits your eye.

 

From buying and selling/returning 7 bags in the last month I definitely saw there’s no “perfect bag”...just the one that checks the most boxes for you.

I'm liking that navy as well, think I'd pull the trigger but can't find it local and most online shops are out of stock as well.  Must be a popular color.

I just kept circling back to Amazon every couple days. Got lucky as I didn’t see it any stores.

I've carried and pushed the new players 4 and have had no issues with it at all. I do love that the straps snap off very easily on the bag when pushing to eliminate some of the clutter around the pockets.

How does it compare to TM FLEX LITE? The tm feels so bottom heavy even though it’s a light bag

Took out my 2021 SM 2.5 for its maiden voyage today. Loved how things fit. Plenty of space for the essentials. Garment pocket easily fit a wind shirt, knit cap, with room to spare. Unclear if it could handle a full rain suit but will try later. 
 

No trouble at all with 14 clubs plus an extra putter (Four head covers—2 putters, driver, 3w). 
 

On the course, moving from the SM 4.5 and 3.5, I know it’s only a pound lighter but the limited storage kept me from overloading so I think it was noticeably lighter carrying for 18. I especially noticed how light it was on the first lift off with the handle. When I caddied, that’s the move—the hoist to the shoulder—that really adds up over a round. 
 

I got the EZ Fit straps, which they added at no cost (the X Strap was also in the pocket, so nice to have both) and really loved them on round 1. Soft and not slippery. I barely fiddled with the adjustments, it sat great right out of the box, except when carrying on one arm, which i do often and will have to find that balance point.

At one point I was thinking, “wow, not even an ounce of bag chatter” but noticed it later, but much less than bags in the past, and I didn’t even have a towel to help today.

Thanks for the excellent review Phil.  What color did you get?  Also, do you mind me asking where you purchased that they included the ez fit straps?  I called SM to inquire about purchasing them for my 3.5 and they were 30$.  I'm about to buy the 2.5.  thanks!

I got black. My other 2-3 choices were all back ordered and I knew the EZ Fit would come in black so I was only trying for combos that would look ok with black straps. I ordered around New Years and just got it last week. I ordered from DD’s. At first they said they couldn’t change but offered to make it an “if possible” note and it showed up with it. 
 

I was afraid the black would be boring but I like it. I typically go with colorful bags, blue and gray, or Red and gray. But they can get stale. With black I can add some color with a towel and head covers lol.

Discount Dan's, but item will ship direct from Sun Mountain.  So check sunmountain.com to see if bag is in stock, most (maybe all) 2.5+ colors are backordered on sunmountain.com

Thanks! Maybe I should purchase sooner than later.  Dicks and GG had a black one in store.  I was thinking of seeing if I can get my home course logo embroidered but that may add an extra layer of complexity.  I'm assuming that can't be done after I purchase.
